It doesn't matter, you're only talking about 1lbs difference, just pick one and go with it...

    Hi all,

I just got an MP99 with NBG95 @ 26lbs. It was great for the first two weeks and now it feels like the tension has gone down quite abit.

I agree lots with the post above that said that lower tensions suit those who use more swing to generate power than those that play with their wrist. Sad to find that out now after playing for so long o_O

So i am left with a dilemma, my racket was strung at 26lbs *which was suficient for my wrist play* but now that the tension has dropped its a 'neither here nor there' tension. I spent a while getting use to it *in retrospect i realize that i have resorted to using full strokes rather than more wrist work*. Accuracy has dropped like mad, net shots are off, ya'll know the routine. Very frustrating. Any advice?

My personal conclusions so far are higher tensions = play better, lower tensions = harder to control *which seems to be opposite to the trend that i've read, anyone like me? any pointers?*

Yeah, I feel that too. If I was not mistaken, I used my friends AT700 which was strung at 27lbs on a bg66. I could clear forehands just by wrist work too. Back on mine which was strung at 23lbs, I need a full stroke to clear the shuttle. Any idea?

About the accuracy, I don't know. I just know that at low tensions, the string vibrates like mad when I smash.

I am an intermediate player as well. I currently use prototype strings( 0.66mm which is the same as bg66's gauge). I strung my armortec700 with that string at 26*28.5, no problems so far. It's worked out great.

    thx for your response!
ok, i will try 23lbs next time. btw, what is your string reccomendation for me??

i just a kid ( mybe teenager), grade 10 , and low power.
so, what's your reccomendation? and I want the tension that i cant push my string with my thumb. ( it means, high tension) Is it 23 lbs? I guess if i use 23lbs, i still can push the string.

    (sorry for my bad english.)

You can try NBG98, BG66, BG85, or BG80 they are all great strings, any one would do. I don't think there's a such tension of what you mentioned, because if it can't flex the string bed with your thumb, how do you expect to play with it? In conclusion, I think 23lbs would be good enough.

24lbs, 25lbs should be good enough, but shouldn't be too high if they're a good intermediate.

If we can go higher, is higher always better?

I've only played 22lbs on BG-85, I can play all the shots without much effort, should I keep trying higher till I hit my limit?
