KUALA LUMPUR: Two national back-up players, Mohd Hafiz Shaharuddin and Raymond Stevon, will go for a two-month training stint at the International Badminton Federation (IBF) World Training Centres in Germany and China.

Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Ganga Rao said Mohd Hafiz would train in Saarbrueskan, Germany, and Stevon in Guangzhou, China.

They will be trained by the IBF high-performance coaches together with other selected international players, he said yesterday.

Both players will leave for their training centre in June.

IBF have another training centre in Sofia, Bulgaria and plans to open two more centres in Kuala Lumpur and Houston, United States.

On another matter, Ganga said the BAM were still searching for a high-performance coach for the men's doubles in the senior squad.

He said BAM have shortlisted candidates from China, Indonesia and South Korea.

“The foreign coach will help the present team – Yap Kim Hock, Chang Kim Wai and Pang Cheh Chang – in handling the senior men's doubles. As Kim Hock is busy as national head coach, BAM feel that we need a high performance coach to build the men's doubles,” he added.

Ganga said the name of the candidates would be made known after the Sudirman Cup from May 10-15. – Bernama

Based on the news , Malaysia is going to get another foreign coach. Since they have so many coaches.. i really hope it will really help the players to improve more. No more disappointments and excuses.

According to Kompas report, Indonesia will send 2 of its young players to Germany and China.
One is Tommy Sugiarto, the son of Icuk Sugiarto, who will go to German. As for the other player, it will be Rosaria Yusrin Pungkasari, who will go to China.

Apparently there was a bit of controversy surrounding the selection of the two players. According to the PBSI coaches, the decision was from the coaches themselves. But for some reason, the East Java Development committee felt the player that has the "right" to go should be the one who "finished the highest" as a junior player in Indonesia. In the recent Pelatnas National selection tournament, for the boys junior, it was Fauzi Adnan, as he finished ahead of Tommy Sugiarto. And for the ladies junior, it was Rosaria Yusrin Pungkasari. But for some reason, Fauzi Adnan wasn't selected, instead it was Tommy Sugiarto. However, they are still pushing hard for Fauzi to have a chance to go overseas..

Personally, it seems like there is some politics going on here again. But if i was Fauzi, I wouldn't be too worry, as the training program in German only last a few months. In the meanwhile he can train at Pelatnas and later he could be selected and sent to German or even China
