    Dear friends,

Probably you have mentioned that your pupils sometimes lose their concentration and commitment while playing: they give up 5-6 points in a row, playing almost senselessly...

I suggest you the following exercise for teaching concentration and commitment:

    - playing match with games only upto 3 (three) points each.

In such a play there is no room for letting your opponent to go ahead, and no chance to get back these lost points. The play should be concentrated from the very beginning to the end. (Certainly, there should not be 'setting' of the game at 2:2)

After such an exercise you should ask your pupil: "Have you felt the difference? You should play your usual games upto 15 (or 11) in the same manner."

    My coach made us do something similar - 5 , 3 , 1 .
The first game is 5 points , the second game to 3 points and the last game for 1 point . I think the reason he did that is to try and make us battle for each point .

The first game to 5 meant that the score is 10 all . That is when the real game starts .

And the last game to 1 , meant that the score is 16 all , and you are battling for your final point .

I'm not really sure what the game to 3 is for ... any ideas ?
