I don't know who Chen Gang is but if he really died, its not the time to be making fun of him Bbn. I hope you weren't really intending to mock him about his defeat. But if you are, please don't...... A death is already unfortunate enough as it is

Ehh .. I'm not too sure you're talking about Chen 'Gang' or Chen 'Kang' ? If you're talking about Chen Kang, well he was one half of a brilliant chinese doubles pair in the mid 90's. His partner then was Chen Hongyong. They were the only internationally competitive pair that China produced after Li YongBo and Tian BingYi

It was really unfortunate that he was forced to retire due to some serious heart condition. Also because the pair were really going places and climbing in the rankings then when it was discovered after he collapsed during some local chinese tournament.

Even if it isn't indeed him, it is sad to hear such news.

No I am not mocking him.It is devastating to be thrashed so

heavily.and could destroy weaker hearts.Chen Gang was world

singles junior champ in 1993,94 or thereabouts and won some

Gp tours just before Sun Jun, Dong Jiong and Luo Yi Gang.He i

    s only 26.

Chen Kang was Morten's assistant coach in Msia in 1997 and it

wasn't him who collapsed on court, it was another pair

    sometime in early 90's.

Chen Gang was the Malaysian Open winner in 1998 or 1999 and reached the WGPF of the same year. A bit surprised that some of you have not heard of him.

I think he was supposed to have 'retired' in the same batch as Yu Jin Hao and Sun Jun.
Wasn't there some rumour he was supposed to be going to S'pore a number of months ago?

He was the World Junior Champ in 94 or 95, same batch with Peter Gade, Luo Yigang, and Wong Chooong Hann in the World Junior. What really happened to him????

Player who collapsed during the HK Open men's doubles final was Zheng Yumin. He is Zheng Yuli's brother Chinese lady singles player and wife to the famous player Yeung Yeung.

Strange that there is still a word such as brother or sister

    in a one child society.

Chen Gang tragedy news was in the "Discussion" section in worldbadminton.net days ago. But if you go to "SEARCH" under "chen", you'll be able to find it!
