Yeah basically what wingjai said. It's a doubles only tournament for boys, girls, and mixed. It's gonna be held at St. Augustine CHS this year. Do you live or go to school in York Region?

The St.Augustine lights and especially the basketball nets piss me off. I'm so scared of the net on court 8, I think a strategy would be to constantly clear to the guy's forehand to scare the crap out of him.

Also, the vents are horrible. If you serve or clear towards the blue vents, you can see the bird wobble.

But just think of this... now that you know what goes on in high school badminton, you can get straight into it in the next 4 years.

Yeah . In my club , all of the people are in high school except for me and this other guy . I hear a lot about LOSSA , OFSAA and all those high school badminton tourney's . And I guess it gets me -somewhat- prepared for it next year .

Yeah, at least you're now aware of all the tournaments. I knew absolutely nothing about all the tournaments etc. until I investigated Ontario Badminton site and looked around the forums. Believe me, you may not know it, but it is REALLY helpful when you know what's going on. School coaches tell you almost nothing because they know nothing themselves about any of the competitions as well as badminton itself. So it's really great you're prepared for everything now. :)

I played at the St. Aug net at the court just below the score board and that was quite possibly the worst games I had. I played 3 matches under the poor-lit, basketball net and curtain infested court. I think most schools in York Region have absolutely crappy gyms and lights.

My school is quite horrible in terms of placement of lights. It has fluorescent lights that stretch RIGHT across the ceiling about 2m apart all along the gym. As soon as you look up to find the bird, you'll never find it because the lights just make it confusing.

I think we should play on a REAL badminton court for tournaments :D

The badminton coach at my club is also a teacher for high school ( the 1 i'm going to next year ) ... he is really passionate about the sport and devotes most of his time on badminton ( running district tournaments etc ) . I think it's really neat how you are so independent Trance ... to find out about everything on your own and all :)
