I've read the reviews and the forums, but has anybody had the luck of owning both the 7K & 8K?

If not, at least played long enough with both to be able to discern the differences in character between the two?

Both rackets were released almost back to back, and appear identical apart from the colour.

Is Yonex just using clever marketing to double the sales of what is essentially the same racket?

I am lucky to be having both :D.

Well... if you play doubles and prefer more defense, NS7000 may be more favorable. Both rackets are very efficient for clear, drop shot, push, lift, drive, net shots. And.. NS8000 generates much much more power when SMASSSSHING. The more you smash with your NS8000, the further you are drifted away from all those old rackets.

If you are only considering buying one, just purchase NS8000 will do. In fact, if I was given the choice, I will buy two pieces of the NS8000, instead of getting both. The NS8000 was released after I got my NS7000. And... try the rackets out yourself, the NS8000 is much much more superior than the NS7000.

And... make sure you got a genuine piece in hand! :D All the fakes; for example, Nanopower 7000, does not even have the feel of the NS7000. Well... except the look.

    Thanks.

hey cooler, I was meaning to ask you this: it gets so cold in calgary eg: -25 or something, won't all the shuttles shatter on impact? :D

(Got this crazy idea after watching Cool Runnings..... )

Thanks for the advice. I've got my cousin visiting from Singapore in June. Was thinking of getting a NS8000 SP, do you know where would be the best place in Singapore to purchase one at the moment? I want a 3UG4 and unstrung.

    Thanks!

If you get it from the Sportslink or Interlink, least you know you are getting the genuine. The current price is S$299/- with a YONEX Bag and a free string. If you get it from othe sports shop, make sure that it is SP version, and make sure that you really know them, in order not to get too many surprises; including fakes... The shop which I patronize very often is Classic Sports from SAFRA Toa Payoh, and he is selling it with string at S$270/-. 4-knots stringing, you can choose the string you want and he will string it for you on the sport, approx. 15 - 25 minutes...

    Thanks.

I'm using an AT800 OF 3UG4 at the moment, how would the NS 7K & 8K compare to that? I want to get the racket that feels the QUICKEST response, control and swingspeed. Does the 7K feel to be lighter and have a quicker swingspeed than the 8K??

    Thanks.

There is also a shop in queensway called Gala Sports. They give great prices... I bought an Armortec 800 OF for 240 with strings(any. I chose BG66) and grip (any).... they all sell genuine equiptment so there is no worry there.

It is your choice, normally... he will recommend 2 knots, especially when you are having Cross=Main tensions; for example 24 LBS Cross + 24 LBS Main. In this way, the force will be distributed across the entire frame. But... if you want 28LBS Cross + 26 LBS Main, well... you can tell him to use 4 knots. But... it is your preference, even if you want your 24 x 24 to be 4 knots, he will still do it for you, at no extra charge!

    Thanks.

I would assume that both of you would agree the NS8000 would be closer in performance to the AT800 OF than the NS7000?

The NS8000 still feels headlight right?

Yes, I would say the racquet is some what head light. The NS7000 is even crazier. The thing feels like NOTHING.

I've definitely got my mind set on the NS8000.

Does anyone what the durability is like? Is it as durable as the AT series? I do believe they are suggested to be strung at a lower tension in comparison with the AT series.

The joy of NS8000 is that it is headlight, and yet when you smash, you can feel the power you have in your hand, plenty!

    Thanks.

When I played with NS7000, the paint chipped off at three locations when my partner incidentally contact my racket with his.

So far, my NS8000 is still as new, no scatches no paint being chipped off, after 3 sessions (approx 12 games)...

    Thanks.

I had tested with 28LBS Cross + 26LBS Main (4 Knots), was strung without any problems. Played a few sessions...

I had re-strung it yesterday with 26Cross + 26Main (2 Knots), and will be testing it this coming Friday, to see which of these two tensions suit me better on the NS8000.

    Thanks.
