OK, it was an accident. During one double game last night my opponent did a drop and I responded by going forward and lunged to retrieve the bird. The bird didn't go over the net and slided under to my side. Just as I recovered from the lunge, the opponent had his racquet over net to scoop the bird. Here is the catch: the timing was perfect between his racquet over the bird and my foot over the 12 o'clock of his racquet. The dude was visiually upset and quite black faced afterward. Has this happened to you guys and gals before? He didn't ask for compensation or anything.

What was he doing grabbing the shuttle so fast? Were you in the process of landing from your lunge and had to finish the landing on his racquet, or was this in your footsteps afterwards?

Did the other guy's racquet snap at the shaft?

at the instant when your shoes hit the racket, is the birdie still in the air? or has the shuttle already landed?

Nope... it snapped at the 1 O'clock and 11 O'clock positions... the 12 O'clock still intact:D. Pretty weird actually, it's the first time I have seen this happening to a racquet.

Yeah, I felt really bad for both parties involved. Especially more so as both of them strung my racquets:D.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, break their racket! :D

I understand why your opponent would be so upset. Racket breakage due to clashes during play time would be easier to accept, no? But if caused by an unfortunate luck, or bad timing ... there goes CAD 100-ish.

Anyway, it happened. What's the appropriate response? Say nothing, do nothing?

I was finishing the lunge and recovering that I stepped onto his racquet. So, the 12 o'clock tip of his racquet was in my footstep afterward. The twelve o'clock snapped. After the game, the dude was so pissed that he pounded his cracked racquet into the ground.

Yes, the bird landed. I was very relaxed and recovering.

I think the twelve o'clock was already cracked when my foot was on his racquet..

The guy vented out his frustration after the game and whacked it real hard into the ground.

He has the Forza Kelvar C8 or something? Not a cheap racquet considering one has to cough out over a hundred bucks for a 3U.

I just don't know the appropriate response. It was a new experience. Never happened before: frankly, I felt quite unpleasant and awkward.

Sounds like he put his racquet in harm's way and at a weird time to me. Unfortunate luck for all involved in any case. Now I'll never go scoop the shuttle on the other side ever again hahaha *cab 20 Hugs*

That oppenent shows poor sportsmanship. The rackets gone. Venting is fine, but it was an accident. Is he like, 12 yrs old or something?
