E. Hirose
It's my first time watching her play. It's the match against Wong Mew Choo of Malaysia. I can certainly see how Hirose was capabale of shotting down Zhou Mi and Gong Ruina earlier this year.
Nice explosive power, and very very good follow up on attacks. I think her choice of shots is rather good too. What do you guys think? Do you guys see potential in her?
The baby fat on her cheeks makes her look really cute too

ya i saw her play for the first time too.quite impressive with her shots.most of it were just on the line but she does commit veri similar mistakes esp the cross court push from left side to right.if wong could exploit that more it would have been better.but i felt wong has already played her best on that day already.

New Woman Superstar
I think Erico Hirose could be the next superstar in the mould of Zhang Ning if she continues to train and take up badminton seriously. I say this because she is still relatively young and may not want to be a professional.
Yes, she completely destroyed Mew Choo in the first game with her speed and explosive power, always creating an opportunity to mount attacks. But in her eagerness to finish the match and give Japan a fighting chance since they have already lost the XD and MS, Hirose committed too many unforced errors to allow Mew Choo back into the second game. Given time for her to mature, she will certainly be very hard to beat, provided she continues to maintain her superior fitness.
I agree Mew Choo has played perhaps the best match of her life to force a rubber. No one can dispute that she has given of her best and this was evident in the painful split she performed to retrieve Hirose's sharp net drop at MC's forehand corner. MC certainly displayed tremendous fighting spirit.
But watch out for the 'cute' smiling face of Erico Hirose. She is almost like the youthful Peter Gade who first broke into international badminton scene and created a sensation!
At least now we know we have a match for the China ladies! But we also need more Carmillas and Audinas to provide a more solid base.
