    Re-match in final of WC2005? Not likely

    Not trying to be arrogant like Taufik, very unlikely you will see Lin Dan vs Taufik in the final in WC2005 since one of the finalist most probably is a Malaysian player(Lee Chong Wei/Hafiz/Choon Hann, your pick).

    It's all about the draw

    Realisticlly still China has an edge to win the MS title. Just look at the qualification for WC2005 :
    China : Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai, Chen Hong;
    M'sia : Lee Chong Wei, Hafiz, Choon Hann;
    Thia : Boonsak Ponsana;
    Denmark: Peter Gade, Kenneth Jonassen;
    S'pore : Ronald Susilo;
    Indonesia : Taufik Hidayat, Sony Koncoro;
    Imagine you have to beat 2 Chinese players on the same bracket before advancing to Final. I only hope 2 Malaysian players are place into the bracket where only 1 Chinese player, better chance as now the Chinese player most probably have to beat 2 Malaysia players, not a easy task either. Getting a good draw is so crutial in WC.

    Concur with the last statement, getting into a good draw is important. And barring any injuries during the tournament, I will say the player that "wants to win it all the most" will win it... If both the Indos players can avoid any of the 3 Chinese players in earlier rounds, it could be LinDan vs. Taufik again in the MS Final.

    If the current ranking stay the same til 05/19, from 1 to 8,

    Lin Dan, Jonassen, Gade, Chen Hong, Lee CW, Bao, Hashim, Taufik.

    The quarterfinal will very likely be:

    Lin Dan vs Taufik <== another rematch
    Jonassen vs Hashim
    Gade vs Bao
    Chen Hong vs Lee CW

    And Wong CH ranked 9 is very likely to face Taufik at the round of 16.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the seedings determined only after the Singapore & Malaysian Opens? Qualification determined after SC. I can still see a shuffle in the seedings seeing the 2 remaining tournaments before the WC are big ones and serve as final warm-ups for players.

    Sorry, you are right. I mixed up the 2 dates. Maybe I should change my quote:

    If the current ranking stays the same after Singapore & Malaysian Open.....

    But which is very unlikely.

    No problems ;). Nevertheless, if by chance Taufik is still seeded 8 (assuming Lin Dan is #1), we will have the match everyone's waiting for in the QF.

    i think that this years world champs will be very closely contested with everyone looking at taufik or lin dan to win the title.

    i think people should broaden their views. the danes are also left out of the last posts who i think could do very well.

    i think if chen hong can repeat his form from all england and japan open(except final cos he was ill) then he is a major title contender. he has no pressure becuase this time it is on bao chunlai and mainly lin dan who is expected to win. when i watched chen hong play his matches at the all england i saw a different side to him, more patient and a greater range of shots, showing he has definately matured as a player from the smashaholic he used to be. he is a definate threat.

    there are too many good players to choose from, all of whom have shown good form this season, but chen hong at the all england was a very impressive show to watch, i tip him to win.

    well.. guys... we can see the progress of taufik.... so it will be very great if he become numer 1 player after all...
    china has unstopable strenght in WS dicipline... and i predict that it won't change till the end of the WC. while in the doubles dicipline european has been speaking aswell... england with their XD, and denmark with their MD. and i think korea can take the WD tilte.. fair enough rite? hehehhe
    it will be more interesting when we have no real giant country which has unbeatable power...
    so ... what you think?

    Hmmm I still believe that China has it's WD title under the bealt. They have all three pairs in the top three and they don't appear to be losing any open titles either. However, The WS is almost as strong as well with Xie, Zhang and Zhou. I don't think China will be losing in any of the ladies catedories :eek: .

    However, I agree that the European countries have a very good chance at taking the titles in the XD and MD. And who knows, maybe Peter Gade can create some more magic and win MS. It's not like that's a long shot either :D
