Rian/Yoke will climb up to no 16 next with 5040 pts won in the China Masters. Look like the strategy of sending them to 3 back-to-back tourneys are working.

I would want them to rise to top 10 by March 2009 and to be among the top 8 seeds for the World Championships 2009 in India.
They have a chance considering:
(1) Fu/Cai's impending split
(2) Jung/Lee's non-activity due to Jung's army service
(3) Choong/Lee's retirement
(4) Eriksen/Hansen's retirement
(5) Tony/Candra's retirement
(6) Guo/Xie's split
(7) Luluk/Alvent's split
In that case, based on yesterday's ranking, we should have a top 10 composed of:
(1) Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan
(2) Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen
(3) Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong (if they are still not split)
(4) Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen
(5) Tadashi Ohtsuka/Keita Matsuda
(6) Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif
(7) Lee Jae Jin/Hwang Ji Man
(8) Shuichi Sakamoto/Shintaro Ikeda
(9) Rian Sukmawan/Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki
(10) Howard Bach/Bob Malaythong Khan

After back-to-back QF finish at the Denmark and French Super Series, Rian-Yoke are now world number #14... and #5 at the Super Series standings... They have a chance to go to Malaysia at the end of December as INA's #2 pair...
I hope they will do well in the HK SS... Another QF appearance might be enough to stay in the top 8 of this year's SS standings... A SF appearance would solidify them even more..

Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki expressed his disappointment in terms of the two first-round exits at the All-England and Swiss SS 2009. He admitted that couldn't sleep for 3 nights after the losses
So, he has asked PBSI not to send him and Rian Sukmawan to Super Series level tourneys at this moment. I think it's a wise decision to send them to GP and GP Gold events, or even some Challenger events to boost their confidence, which is at an all-time low at the moment due to 3 early rounds exits dating back to the HKG SS 2008. Their last victory was at the French SS, where they reached the QF.
Even for GP Gold events, Yoke did not want to set a target of winning those events first. A QF finish will do them good because it's better than first round exits at the SS tourneys.

Wise intention from Yoke... He has matured a bit. And more realistic.

A more reasonable calendar for the next 4 mths (at least until the World Championships) so that they can break into the top 10 by end of the year:
07-12 Apr Happy Suwon Badminton Asia Championships (Suwon) -- this is an important tourney for them and I do hope PBSI can send them (despite news that INA players will not be sent). QF placing will do them good here.
21-26 Apr Vietnam Int. Challenge -- winning Int Challenge tourneys will help to shore up their fragile confidence. But chances are, PBSI won't send them to lower level tourneys
Sudirman Cup will be held in May. I think PBSI may not even field them as a back-up pair, given that they're now INA's no 3 MD pair (behind Kido/Hendra and Bona/Ahsan). We'll see.
16-21 Jun Djarum Indonesia SS -- home event, no harm participating
23-28 Jun Yonex-Sunrise Malaysia GP Gold -- a new event, good for INA shuttlers to gain some ranking pts
20-26 Jul SCG Thailand Open GP Gold -- also a good tourney to defend their QF points from last year.
I believe with their rankings, Rian/Yoke will be eligible for a spot in the World Championships 2009 in Hyderabad.
10-16 Aug World Championships 2009

I guess you don't give much faith that the Philippine Open Gold GP will actually be executed eh?
