I'm wondering how the tension of the string affects the shots and the racket.

OK, essentially there are two rules. The tighter the strings the more power you get, but the looser they are the more touch or control you get. I play with my rackets at 24 lbs, but I would not go much higher. You also tend to find that the more tension, the easier they break and the more vulnerable the racket it is. Rackets should take up to 30 or even 40lbs, but dont even go there. One shot off the sweet spot and you can buy a new racket! If you are after control I would have said go for 20lbs-22lbs and for power 22-24lbs. Use a good string, a microfibre is the best. It will last and also gives a good feel. Try the BG 80Ti or at least the BG65Ti.

    Have fun,

PS Anyone elses thought would be gratefully received, i dont want to give out the wrong information!
