haven't been playing badminton for a while and i'm just getting back into it ready for my college trials, going to buy a new racquet but can't remember my grip size! anyone help on this matter on how i can find out what my grip size is?
Well if you grip the racket and you feel like you can dig your nails into your palm then the grip is probably a little small, if you can't touch your palm at all with your 1st 3 fingers then I'd say the grip is too big. You can always add an overgrip or 2 if the grip's too small, they're quite thin so you can get the grip to pretty much whatever thickness you want...
yeh but the thing is i'm planning to buy a new racquet off ebay, yonex muscle power 99 and i don't know which grip size i am which is the trouble, is their a technique to find out your approximate grip size? once i know that i'll buy a racquet and if it doesn't suit my personal preference i'll just buy an overgrip or most likely jus regrip the racquet.

yeh discovered a useful thread within the markets section, probably going to buy from an online UK retailer, the safer opt, but now i need to know my grip size!
Generally a G4 (Yonex's grip system) is suitable for most people. I'd say it's the "average" size as it's not too big and not too small. I'm Asian and I find that the G4 grip size fits me fine. If you're extra cautious, then you probably can't go wrong with a G5 grip. If it's too small, then you can just add extra grip to compensate for the loss of diameter. I think G3 were more suited for Westerns or Europeans as they tend to have a bigger figures than Asians, however, before I had a G3 racquet and it was still fine. Again, I still recommend the G4 grip, it's probably the "universal size." Unless you're a female, then you should easily wrap your fingers around the G4 grip and add grips if you feel that it's too small. G4 grips + one overgrip are generally good for the majority of the population.. that's my assumption anyways.
right, i wanted a G4 from this company but they only sell the G3, what should i do to the grip if its too big for me? cos i heard if a racket grip is too big you might damage your wrist or something due to the extra flex or generally be uncomfortable.
grip sizes available in uk just checked out yonex rackets on tennisnuts - they only stock g3. does anyone stock g4? i also notice on the shop site that grip size for carlton rackets isn't stated. what's their sizing?

all my carlton handle sizes are G4, apparently. i have a G4 cab21, and they measure to be almost identical.
nah westeners tends to have bigger hand sizes in comparison to easteners such as asians, i have an average hand size but gonna go to my local racket store and check for sure my grip size. G4's tend to be sold in the uk, i'm looking for a g3 but finding it impossible to do so.
i'm going for a Yonex size G3 as it appears that's the standard stocked http://www.tennisnuts.com/ishop/677/shopscr1444.html just waiting for delivery now. this racket was suggested for a beginner/intermediate, and it's a good price. there was a Yonex G4 suggested earlier in this thread but it about £100-00. if the racket is the wrong size i hope i can return it.
yes, i'm on about the yonex mp99 from http://www.directsports-eshop.co.uk/ as this is where i can get most for my money, custom strings etc along with the racket which i'm buying but they supposedly say yonex only ship to them g3's
just received delivery of my racket mentioned earlier in the thread from tennisnuts. looks like a good racket, very prompt delivery. don't know if it's exactly my size (my 3rd finger digs in slightly to the fleshy part under the thumb).
