Lately I am searching for another pair of badminton shoes to replace my current one. And I was considering between the Yonex BSH-89 and 98. Yet until I went to my local badminton retailer shop for fitting yesterday and the owner has recommended the FLEET badminton shoes.

Despite the styling department are lacking, the fleet shoes do offer similar comfort, but only half of the price as the YY BSH-98. And what’s even more surprising is when I turned the shoe over and the rubber is almost identical to the YY 98:eek: . Below I have attached 2 pictures for comparison, and I would like to know if anyone has brought the fleet shoes? Are you recommended?? How does it compare to the Yonex shoes?

First of all I'd like to correct you, it's SHB-98 not BSH-98 :)

Hmm... I've tried those fleet shoes before. Did you goto lee's to try them?

I personally didn't like those shoes because the bumps for the insole is a little too big. It kinda hurts my feet. I would like to try the yonex ones as the insole bumps look a bit smaller.

YONEX shoes are comfortable but other brands take longer time to adjust and the soles easily come off. I'm using Mizuno in two months the sole break off and I had to glue them. Non original Yonex shoes get torn easily and sometime during game the soles come off leaving you barefooted. The FLEET shoe looks good also, I like the Fleet racquet bag, it's bigger than Yonex but Fleet bag doesn't last long though.

Basically what the other brands of shoes can copy is the overall shoe design and sole. However it is hard for them to copy the technology and comfort. Some of them don't have good support. Material wise, i can say "average".

I don't know about the Fleet shoes but the Yonex SHB-98 and 99 are excellent.

If the Fleet are half price and the store owner recommended them, why not give them a try and report your findings to us? :D

I have a pair and I do not reccomend them. The left front part of the shoe tears away very fast and I feel very heavy on court when I use them. But that's just my opinion...

Try the Asics shoes then. I got myself a pair of Asics Gel Ribre, and they are much cheaper than Yonex and very comfortable!

I have a pair of fleet shoes too that resembles the shb 99 mx. I agree with the fleet shoes making me feel heavy too. In fact, the shoes feel too big inside. I was like, all over the place. I tried tying the shoe laces tighter, but that didn't work either. All in all, terrible fitting shoes.

some shoes that try to imitate Yonex are poor in quality. some shoes are hard and heavy. but, the design is the same. to me, comfort is more important and therefore, Yonex shoes are recommended

There are new Victor shoes at Lee's. They may be a better bet.

I received a pair of shb99ltd last week, and tried them out...
Right off the bat, they were far superior in grip to my mizuno shoes, and definitely a lot lighter, which gave me better maneuverability around the court.
I cant vouch for any other brands though, as i have little experience with their court shoe styles.

    But as mentioned previously...
If the price is right, and it feels comfy to you.. give them a try, and let us know! :D

edit: whoops! I see Wong, had tried them, and did not like them at all... :(
But thank you for your review, now we know this particular model was not so good.

Most of them time, price will reflect the quality. It depends on whether we willing to spent it or not. i prefer Yonex rather than fleet.

I have the FT-19, bought it at Lees. They look similar to the one you have in the picture. Never tried the Yonex ones while playing but I did get a chance to try them and work around in the store. Honestly, in terms of comfort both feel the same. Again, I don't know how it feels on the court but them fleet shoes are serving me well and it's half the price.
