Is anyone familiar with this string? Is it available in the UK? I was looking at the strings on www.ashawayusa.com .

    Claims:

    • World's thinnest badminton string, at 0.65mm, "for optimum playability"
    • Holds tension "under any conditions"
    • Maximum stringing tension 24 lbs

sheesh - wouldn't mind having a go with this, altho i'd be a bit suss about it's durability issues.. lol - holds tension - thats physically impossible - the string needs to stretch to work, and therefore will lose tension over time..

24lbs.. well thats my limit at the mo too so i guess i can live with that.. but if i'm string at max tension whats the odds that i'm gonna break often, especiallly when it's that thin, it doesn't surprise me that this hasn't taken off really - it's prolly too fragile, and doesn't go up to the tensions that the pro's use, but it's prolly priced in that range...

hmm, worth a look - i'm sure it'll come out over here sooner or later..

i string one of my racket less than one month ago @ 23lbs. Performance wise still acceptable, but string tend to sway after every hit, pretty annoying. I have tried Ashaway durakill too. same thing happened. Will stick to BG66.

Wow..I thought the thinnest badminton string that was available was only 0.66mm..

I might try those extremely thin Ashaway strings...I have never snapped my own strings before and I hope my luck lasts...lol

I was thinking the same thing - I hardly ever break strings, and frequently restring anyway. So long as the strings don't break faster than I want them to...!

yeah, but what tension do you usually take? while i would expect thinner string to compensate for tension somewhat i think they will break because they are at the limit of their tension - and who's to say the stringer won't exceed that tension while stringing - thus potentially weakening the strings before you even hit a shot..

and i bet it's pricey too..

23 lbs is my base tension. I might string higher in order to compensate for tension loss over time.

My #1 desired characteristic in strings is that they hold tension well.

me too - i've been quite pleased with microlegend, altho i don't think they lasted as long as they should have, think i managed 10-12 weeks with a set - which isn't bad i suppose, seeing as i play 3, 4 or even 5 times a week sometimes..

i'll prolly give them a go..

    RSL's Super Ti630 strings are only .64mm.

You can check it out at www.rsl-1928.com

for me micro legend was an expensive way to go cuz in taiwan here it costs 400nt which is over 10 usd. and i broke it 3 times in a week once, and the longest it lasted was about 2 to 3 weeks. Afterwards i thought the stringer wasn't that good so i went to another store but they didn't have ashaway stings.

Omg.. an even thinner string of 0.64mm? Theres surely gonna be a problem with durability regarding this string...

I have tried this string before (strung at 23Ibs) . I think it is better than BG-66.
