this is why we play badminton.
came back from the gym. played almost non-stop from 7.30 till 11pm. completely soaked through 2 t-shirts, completely exhausted and right calf is about to cramp up. but somehow i still managed to hit some really good smashes, my cab21 explodes into the shuttle and gave the most amazing sound.
at the end, i lied down on the floor dripping in sweat, wearing a smile in my face. a perfect badminton day.

For my normal badminton wkend, I could hardly feel my leg by sunday night. Even though, it's sore and aching all over the place, but I still feel relaxed and happy (even after losing a lot games )
God damn it, no more this endless OT... I want my baddy wkend back!

badminton is a an addiction, you long all week to play and then once you finaly get to play you give it your all and get a great sense of satisfaction. You can be in large amounts of pain and be completely exausted but still be happy simply because you're playing badminton, doing what you love.

Last weekend at my club, I was playing my 8th hour... I was playing a singles game against someone who on other occassions I had beaten without much trouble. But I was tired! Very very tired. And I was losing something like 8-3 also. But some friends were cheering me on, and in the end, I still managed to win 15-13 or something very very close to that. By the time i scored the last point, I had a cramp in the right side of my abs, and my right butt cheek had given out on me (so that I could lunge, but I couldn't get up from my lunges anymore).
Nothing like a good butt-cramp walk off after a long hard game, makes it look like you took a gunshot wound.

You over exerted yourself ! It's quite dangerous in this type of situation. You may easily sprain an ankle.

... by 7 pm my knees are getting tight (no ACLs and No PCLs anymore plus various smaller injuries), but once in a while I get a set partnering with challenging opponents, and the pain, stiffness is gone...
.... seeing my daughter smash the winning point after anticipating a drop.. making an emphatic end to the match...
... playing badly and going over what youdid wrong and swearing to do better next time....
... going out to chinatown to have a midnight snack with friends after the game...

The Physical Torture is one part we all enjoy, but what about Mental Torture?
We all play 2 times, 3 times, 4 times, even 5 times, 6 times... a week. How many occassions we have to say NO to our parents who wanted us home for dinner, NO to our friends or workmates who asked us out for drinks after work, NO to our girlfriend(s) who asked us out for a movie, NO to our wife who wanted us stay in to look after the kids, NO to our kids who want us to be at home at weekends and play with....
We said NOs to people whom we love, and upsetting them at times or often being inconsiderate. For what...
BADMINTON. It comes with a price, but we all want to pay for it. And may be some of you wear a smile on the face when your wife or girlfriend said YES you can go.

It's like being Jedi, except that we've all turned to the Dark Side.
