from searches and reviews, i've concluded that cab30ms is very similar to mp99, except it is oval shaped.

to clarify: oval shaped means less sweetspot than isometric shape?

yonex ti10 comes in 2u and 3u models. 2u creates more...from one search, more so-called "feeling". is it really "that much" head heavy?

and im going to try to achieve the "pok" sound

    mp99+bg66@24lbs+3u+g5

    or

    mp99+bg80@24lbs+3u+g5

im not opting bg85 or 65 because of their thickness

(i moved from bg65 to bg68 which is thinner, and i noticed a bit more repulsion when i just tapped it over the net)

    regards,

    jc

Oval means less sweetspot but give more explosivness.

For the ''Pok'' sound, it depends on alot of factors: Technique, force, string... Ti-10 is head heavy but not that much compared to lets say AT700.

BG85 is considered thin and not thick. BG85 and BG66 should be your best bet if you a a sound contest.

Also, someone in the forum discovered that putting a tape on ur string really increase the sound when you hit the bird. Do a search^^

sadly, i tried the tape technique and it doesnt really make a difference besides a more "frilly" and "rattily" sound. when u say explosiveness, you mean power right? i've tried the mp99 numerous times and i've found it easy to adapt to; it brings instant power when i switch to it from a mp66.

thanks for your info on the strings; im heading for bg66 if the stringer will let me string it at 24 pounds (it probably will break in less than a month...)

    regards,

    jc

    bump

sorry about my lack of patience: i'm heading to vancouver on monday..

i've done numerous searches about the string tensions on a mp99, but i'm still not confident if this is safe:

(refer to the post in the stringing section regarding adding 2 pounds to the crosses)

    MP99 3U, G5 with BG66 @ 24 pounds main/26 pounds cross

this is my final conclusion after much research. heads up? (3u vs 2u?) (26 pounds safe...I know the strings will break in a month...)

    Wait.... What's the question?

    There's no problem with 24x26... My 3U MP99 has BG87 at 25x27

It all depends on the stringer and machine:D

If you really want to produce a huge poke sound, just stay with BG-65 and string your racquet to 28 plus pounds. And spend lots of time to horne in your technique and pump weights. BG-66 is a waste of money IMHO.

i phoned tad's and they dont have bg66, so i might drop by impulse and get a pack of bg66 or somewhere but im debating this:

    bg85 vs bg66.

some posts say that bg85 shouldnt be strung at high tension because it has VECTRAN fibres, which require "a little bit of slack" to work. is this true? because bg85 is supposed to be a very "crisp" string, nice bounce and feel and sound...
