What is the standard/average string tension people use? I have the Yonex Isometric 300 and would like to string it with either the BG-65Ti or the BG-70 Pro. Which one would be a better choice? I'm just an average recreational level player, would 18lbs be good? Someone said that lower tension produces more power, but yet I've read so many people here string it at around 20-21lbs. Does high tension stringing also produce power? Thanks for all your input.
20-21 lbs is considered to be low tension IMO. Depending on your technique, low/high tension might generate more power. My MP 100, Slim 10 and others are strung at about 24lbs. I've heard people in the forum mentioning that BG-70 Pro is better for nylon shuttles. BG 68Ti is not too bad, but there are better strings than that! I will recommend either BG 66, BG 85 or BG 88Ti.
bg 65 should be adequate. try 22 lbs...you are going to loose 1 lb of tension in the first couple of weeks due to something called 'creep' - its non recoverable deformation of the string.
