I went to Tad's yesterday to get a shiny new MP99. I asked about the strings, but I knew before that I was settling for BG85 for feel and power. He did not have BG66. Instead, he had Biogut BioRoots 66. He said that Yonex measures the string diamater AFTER stringing with a microcaliper. Therfore, BG66 would more like be 0.67 or 0.68 BEFORE it is stretched. AFTER stretching, it would be 0.66 mm. But he mentioned that the BioRoots 66 is real 0.66 mm, not 0.66 after stretching. Can anyone confirm this, because I've never tried Gosen and they look like nice strings...

BTW, I got a shiny new MP99. CP Model. BG85@ 23 main, 25 cross with 24 crosses for support. Can anybody give me estimated time of breakage? I broke my BG65's in 1 1/2 months. Model 5164368 160942CP .

24 crosses??? According the Yonex string pattern, there should be 22 crosses.

If u string BG65 and BG85 with same tension, and under around same usage. I say the life span of BG85 is no more than 35-50% of BG65.

Well I talked to the stringer and he recommended what he did to other people: if the string is very thin and at high tension, add a extra cross to maintain stability and to TRY to deter breakage early. When I get home, I'll take some pictures and post.

Any recommendations on Gosen string? 0.66?

the extra crosses are only there to prevent mis-hit breakages. and the mis-hits i refer to are only where the extra crosses are placed. most likely near the bottom, since i doubt anyone can fit crosses across T5 without really damaging the grommets.
if you hit the sweetspot most of the time, the extra crosses are useless. just looks ugly, possible deformation, and extra weight.

the strings will still break if you use it enough, regardless of the extra crosses.

    i don't think they're any better.
its just that the chinese national team orders so much, yonex decided to create a shipment code for them to keep things simple.

i was talking about the racquets the team buys in general.
they purchase a lot, enough to warrent their own shipment codes.
i was not referring to any particular racquet. much less, the ns8000.

so i feel due to this, yonex created the CP/CN code for them to keep their own shipping more organized, not to make super-racquets for the chinese team.

The Chinese National Team don't need to purchase Yonex racquets. Yonex give racquets to the Chinese National Team players totally free.

Before and during tournaments, every Chinese National Team player sponsored get a spanking new racquet.

How much did you pay for the CP version?

I don't even bother with CP/CN racquets nowaday. The premium paid for the extra quality is not worth it.

I'm now using the Gosen 88 micro string which is .66 mm. I string at 22 x 23 and find it to be a very good string - huge power and I find the touch pretty good.

As I've mentioned previously, it has a bit of dead feel to it at first compared to other strings and does not have that crisp ting sound (then again my raquets tend to make a weird "thwung" sound when I dial up a boomer), but I find the control extremely good when I got used to it.

Durbility isn't great, but then again I'm not exactly a finess player  .

I ordered 25 packs from Hi Qua USA - with exhange and shipping it works out to be less than $3 CDN/pack. I was going to bring a pack or two for Pete LSD to try out

I am in love with my racquet, seriously. Always kept in a thermal bag and in the bedroom closet way way way back, so nobody sees or touches it. Finally got XP working with my card reader. Here are the pics hosted on my isp's server.

luxissportsnet codes it at about 300 american, about 420-430 :D. I have a whole collection of pictures.

btw, anybody suffer from racquet breakage phobia? dont want to play doubles? only take out your racquet right before a match? wont let anybody touch it? im sure sombody here suffers from the same syndrome as me.

    regards,

    jc
