i was bored and started watching star trek on tv. im not a treky, nor am i a star war junky, but i was wondering who would win if the ppl on star trek were to wage war on the dudes on star wars. altho star wars have power in numbers (and not to mention the jedi'z:p ) i would think that star trek would win becuase the have shielding, the bourg, photon torpedoes etc. Does anyone that knows ALOT about these to factions have any insight?

It's quite simple actually. Given the state of modern Star Trek (i.e. STNG, STV, Ent) story lines and its fascination with temporality, the Borg would simply travel back in time, and wipe out the empire before it was ever created or any Jedi were born. Since the empire cannot travel in time, they will have no defence.

Case closed. :D Star Trek Wins.

depends whether u like plots or special effect more.
I like star trek better. It is more realistic based on science.
It is amazing how visionary of star trek writer back in the mid to late 60's.
communicator = hand held phone of today
phaser = laser and x ray beam of today
photon = neutron bomb (well, not exact but pretty close)
alien that dont speak english vs in star war, everyone speaks english or just grunts.

    etc

I think in terms of weaponry, they're fairly even.

It'd be interesting to see if the Jedi mind trick would work on the Borg collective. If so, they can turn the entire collective to fight alongside them. :)

Handling the Q would probably prove to be the biggest challenge for the SW folks. :D

If you're looking up genetic manipulation, the very first reference to it in the Star Trek world would have to be Khan..... Look at how he was exiled to the 5th planet, and the premise of Star Trek II.

Really? How about 99.9% humanoid aliens in Star Trek? The variety and lingual difference makes Star Wars way more realistic than Star Trek.

TIE - Twin Ion Engines ain't a pipe dream either. :)

"Bring on the Klingons!", the battle cry of the Sith lord.

lol, it is obvious (to me) that SW draws the younger crowd, more simple minded:p, more physical hardwares, more boom, bang, zap and zings. Yes, more interesting but is it more real? Ask anyone who had researched on alien, supernatural, UFO, quantum physics, etc, SW way to do battle (to solve conflict) would make them laugh. SW project human as complicated superior beings wielding some nifty guns and light sabre, where as in ST, human is often projected as inferior, and each show tend open the audience's mind wider and deeper about ourself and the universe. SW is about good and evil doing battle with nifty but low tech hardwares. ST stimulate u mentally where as SW need the support of soda pop and popcorns to be good :p LOL

you said: TIE - Twin Ion Engines ain't a pipe dream either.

well, do u have an analog technology that we would be using this type of engine? is it even on the drawing board?

Meh, been doin this n that. I still always browse thru the site, but I jus never say anythin :p
Khan is in which season? (sorry I never watched TOS)
I found however, some sources are: Augment section explaining the Eugenics War in Enterprise and the Doctor from DS9. But aside from that, I cant remember any (of course that doesnt refer to anything that was mentioned in TOS) except I know this episode called "Space Seed" or something that mentions the dictator of earth (was this Khan?)

Star Trek would win for sure ;) What with the Borg, Q continuum, and of course species 8472. How could Star Wars compete with that?

Mr Spock is a prat, if you strike him down......he'll probably stay down because he is built like a jockeys whip and so cannot be worth admiring.

Acutally, lightsabres are concentrators of the jedi's force. It's powered by him. :D

Easy enough. Star Wars is tennis, and Star Trek is badminton, each with their own detractors and supporters.

No it doesn't. It's constructed with diatum energy cells that will regenerate when not used, thus a Jedi Master would instruct their Padawans to switch it off it when they aren't slicing bread or anything. Imagine facing a Dark Jedi when your lightsabre fizzles out. It'll be downright embarassing! :) (or dead, depending on the size of your ego...)

    More here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightsabre

    Back to the topic-

Star Wars has a richer history and story than many would imagine, making it by no way any less interesting than Star Trek is. The problem is that what you see on the silver screens on talks one fraction of what the SW universe is about. Those who do bother to read more about it would eventually unlock a whole world of tales and stories that makes it the more worthwhile.

I admit I was closer to a Starfleet Officer than a Jedi Knight more than five years ago until I went on to read about what SW makes my ex-roommate so enamoured in a disfigured man wearing a black suit and mask.
