    Hie there~

How many people usually play there on Fridays? Is it a good mix of beginners, intermediates and advanced players? Coz I'm not that good of a player...just a badminton fan trying to have some casual fan :D Thanks!

    Ken

p.s. realised it's organised by some sort of chinese association; would speaking english be fine?

For 8:30-10:30PM, uuslly we have about 22 people for 6 courts.

It is a mix play, we have all level players.

    Take care,

    For the North York one:

    - If I come for drop-in, can I stay for both sessions?
    - Do you play feather or plastic?
    - Which session has the better players?
    - What's the court condition like?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your inquiry.

    1. You can stay for 2 seeesions($8/2 session), but 6:30-8:30PM, not many good players
    2. I play feather, most of them play plastic
    3. 8:30-10:30PM have some better players
    4. Courts (6 in total) are very good, new hardwood floor.

    Take care,

I might not be able to make it for the 8.30 session so I was wondering if the 6.30 one has the same number of people (22)...or maybe less? (could mean more playing time, hehe :D) Thanks for the info!

As a follow-up, I went on last Friday to the North York location. Here's what I thought:

Location was convenient for me, so worth a try. When I got there it seemed like from 6:30-8:30 they only use 3 courts, and half the gym was for basketball. I came for 8:30-10:30pm and thankfully I didn't play earlier - it would be very frustrating to play with basketballs falling onto the court.

Courts were good quality for the most part - low quality nets, floor wasn't really well taken care of but was at least good hardwood. Lights were overhead and rather bright, but not extremely bothersome unless you're really picky. Courts were back to back and somewhat close to the walls - not too much but people weren't careful and often walked on the courts. Ceiling was a reasonable height, however I did see people hitting it somewhat regularly.

Level of play was rather disappointing for me since I'm usually pretty competitive. I didn't really mind since it's good to just play different people but the vast majority of people there used nylon birds and (maybe I just came on a bad night) the best players there would be mid to low Ontario C level players. Basically people there played recreationally.

Organization was rather poor, you just go and play with whoever as soon as there's an open court. There was however one guy supervising to try to ensure play time was reasonably fairly alotted. There were 6 courts, all for doubles, and a total of about 35-40 people there.

Overall experience was good however, because people were receptive and friendly to newcomers. This club just wouldn't be for me since it's much too recreational for my competitive nature however if you're just looking to hit around with some friends without much hassle and live in the area then this is a good club for you.

how many categories? I would be interested if they play single too. But I doubt they will be able to finish the event in merely 5 hours. :)

Sorry for bumping up an old thread...
Just moved to Toronto and thinking about going to Albert Campbell on Tuesdays.

How is the environment, organization and level of play there? Is it normally full? Anybody looking for a doubles partner?
Don't really know anybody here and somewhat hesitant to go alone and end up not really playing since most people would be in their own groups. I'm more of a recreational player and haven't really played for almost two months due to an injury and settling in.
