Racquet Swingweight Measurements I did some measurements on my racquets to approximate their swingweight. The method used was to fix an axis on the grip about 65mm from the butt, and let the racquet oscilate like a pendulum. Time the period of the oscillations and use the equation MOI = (T squared x M x G x L ) / 4 PI squared T = oscillation period M = mass of racquet G = gravity ( 9.81 ms-2 ) L = distance between axis and centre of mass (centre of mass = balance point) For 1 racquet I also did the measurements with a 13.7g weight added first to the butt, and then to the head.
The Carlton AS-Ti and AS1 that are over 100g (rows 5,10,11) are the ones with towel grip. All the others have Karakal Super PU grips. Not much use to a lot of you maybe, as I have so few Yonex racquets. Maybe we can get the measurement king to do something similar with some Yonex. Then we can have some real comparisons with real world numbers, rather than arguing about what's head-heavy and what isn't.
Quite big differences between the three Carlton AS-Ti's (with Karakal grip) when it comes to balance points? Almost 2 cm? As you mentioned it would be nice to get more info on Yonex models - anyone? BTW never came to think that a regular grip could weight 10+ grams
The AS-Ti on row 9 is significantly older than the other three. It has a lower serial number, and has the shiny paint job rather than the newer matt finish.
