then, we should decrease the height of the net.. make it faster and easier for deep smashes.

"we should slow down badminton because I can't keep up"
"we should highten the ent because my smashdefence sucks"
"we should lower the net because I keep on hitting the tape"
...I smell frustration...
...and unfounded statements

It's a reflection of the mass consumer market. Population increases generates the need to create more jobs. More new stuff means more places and workers to produce them and more people to buy them. Creativity is a wonderful thing.
More importantly, the quality of recreational players improve due to more exposure to professional training (e.g. California and BC) makes the most difference. When quality of players improve, you get faster and longer rallies because players could get to the shot faster and more efficiently.
The evolution of the racquets might have contributed to the speed of the game at one point in history but it's no longer a huge factor. People who smash hard to begin with doesn't smash harder because of the weight change from 2U to 4U. Their arms just adapt to whatever weight of the racquet once they play with it long enough.
Sports should at least have some constant to be interesting (like, oh I don't know, say the height of the net
).

As this thread has been summoned from the depths of time I though I'd comment on it.
All this would do is benefit taller players, if the net was made too high the average club player would no longer be able to smash downwards, instead everything would be flat making it easier to drive back cross court. This would make defending better than attacking and everyone would stop smashing as a result.
Basically a lot of what I like about badminton would vanish. No more high speed rallies just clears and drops forever...

Don't know how you can be be so sure what the OP is doing. The seven years (!) since the thread was opened has given the OP plenty of opportunity to change his mind on this topic. (Or to seek rehab.)

The OP must be a net hitter thus his suggestion for net height increase.
.
The other alternative would be to increase the players height!
Somebody go invent a pair of shoes 4 cm higher
and a base broad enough to prevent ankle twist.
With the current technology it maybe possible.
If not so much of a trouble,
invent some mini spring to go along with it
.

If anything need to be modernized, it will be the serve. Many ways can be suggested. The reference of player's waist, racket head etc. are very difficult to monitor that is why all doubles serves by pros were all dubious and umpire didn't fault them.
With technology today, serve should reference to fix object such as distant from the floor or distant below the top of the net. This can be monitor easily using the similar technology that has been used for measuring the speed of the shuttles travel. Laser and computer can be easily used with a bit of imagination.

why not play badminton between the roof of the houses? that gives more thrills over accidentally fall down or upsetting winds.

How about getting two points for winning a rally by hitting your opponent? Badminton has a weak image in much of the world. Let's inject a little testosterone.
Some other features/benefits:
Evens things out. This helps small players b/c they have a smaller target area to defend. Tall players have the advantage of longer reach and steeper angles. This gives the little guys more of a fighting chance.
Adds drama. Even with the "win by two" rule, every rally towards the end of a tight game has the potential to be the clincher. "Sudden death" is always fun
