Actually, considering I string for HS girls too, neon pink may not be a bad choice to stock.

When I had some lavender BG-85s, I strung some of their racquets with them and their comments were invariably, "Oooh, look at how pretty the colour is" and *NOT* "Oooh, the string feels so nice to hit with."

Wait until I start stenciling their initials or their school/mascot logo in their school colours. I'm not sure I want to open that can of worms now that I think about it.

    But I digress.

The other day I was playing at SGVBC and saw this guy with an MP99 with fluoresecent pink string, pink grip and matching pink socks.

I woulda made fun of him but the guy was BOOMING the shuttle and we were all like, "WOW!"

    But I digress too.

    Default Hi-Qua B-696 String

So, are other colours available besides white? I e-mailed HiQua and the response is that there will be four colours available at the end of September.

    Default Hi-Qua B-696 String

How good is this string at holding tension? Does it loose tension as fast as BG-65?

Pete, the string's also available at http://www.mybadmintonstore.com which is in HK. And, the last time I checked, they've got a variety of colours available.

As for tension holding, as unscientifically as I can determine, I don't think it's any better or any worse than BG-85s that I like to use normally. I haven't used BG-65s myself in a long while, so I can't compare them. I should add though that I prestretch strings before I use (i.e., string) them. Don't know whether that makes any difference in this regard.

Cool! They are such a good deal. Most of the people here don't care about the type of string they use, except for the cost.

    Default Hi-Qua B-696 String

    Hi,
Have you guys strung it at high tension? ( ie. around 27/29 lbs)
    Also, how does it feel?

    thank you,

I string my racquets at 28x30. Honestly, while I marginally prefer a BG-85 over the HQ, I'd be hard-pressed to explain why exactly. I don't feel my shots are better or worse with either strings. The two complaints I have about it are from a stringer's perspective.

Wow, this rating is high. You might just boost up their sales by 300%. They might be wondering, "man, what is going on???"

Sounds like I need to give it a try as well

I don't need it to be as good as BG-85, I just need it to be close to BG-65 and that's definetely good enough.

    I shall want a cut.

Anyhow, I just want to be clear that I was referring to what I think of the HQ's tension holding quality in that post.

    What about playability? Thanks.

No doubt it's a good deal, if the durablity and play ability is acceptable. It's like 20% of the BG65's price.

Well, that's the hard bit. As I've previously mentioned, I think I still prefer BG-85 marginally, but I truthfully can't explain to you why. I don't think my shots feel that much differently, certainly not enough for me to think about it in the middle of a match. Put it another way, for an upcoming tourney I was thinking of re-stringing all my racquets that aren't already done with BG-85s. Now, I don't think I will. I just can't justify the cost of doing that for an undetermined gain, if any.

I know that really doesn't help you much. Sorry.

To put the Hi-Qua string in even roughly the same category as BG-85 (my current favorite string) is incredible!

When I receive the string today, I'll definitely have to try it. If it's "close" to BG-85 and way more durable, this will be my go to string.

    Thanks Quasi!
