This can be turned into a poll. Car owners, is you primary car a stick-shift or an automatic? Stick-shift, me. Wouldn't touch an automatic with a barge pole.
Manual transmission for me : I prefer to have control over how fast and when my car will move, not leave it to the torque converter to decide it for you. I'm an all action kinda driver, you know? Driving auto will er... drive me mad! And what do you mean by 'shift-stick'? Don't auto-transmissions have a shift-stick too?
I don't know really. That's just what they're called here. <shrug> May be because you have to shift the stick to change gears?
for some people, it depends on where they live.... for me, i'd like to drive a manual, but because of traffic lights and heavy traffic, it's more convenient to drive an automatic. driving a manual transmission here is a hassle becuase you'd have to release the clutch several times within a traffic light's distance or two. hassle for the driver as well as the driver's money for replacements of throw-out bearing and pressure plate.
Main car is full auto, the other is semi-auto (stick but no clutch) or full auto. You get good automatics and bad automatics. I had a BMW auto in the past and it was fine I have a Subaru auto which I think is slightly better (but then it is 5 years newer than that BMW) The Alfa Romeo full auto option is awful, but the semi-auto is OK. 3 years newer than Subaru. At higher revs (4000+) both options get better.
Depends on the car. If a performance car and you want to be more involved, manual tranny. If daily driver and you just want to go from Point A to B, I'd go automatic. My Audi S4 has 350+bhp, is a performance car, so a 6-Speed is a must. My Toyota Tundra Double Cab is primarily used for work and is a automatic because it's just easier.
Well I can't drive yet so I play racing games at the arcade with manual transmission. Can't race on the road, let's take it out on the games. Lol. But when I get my license, I will get a manual transmission car.
