Actually this year Denmark is weaker than ever, going to the Thomas cup!

I still remember 1998 and 2000 We all thought - "this will be the year!!" Many things pointed in our direction.
4 guys in the last 8 in ms at the World championships in 97 and 5 in the last 8 in 99. We had the olympic champion, Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen, The World Champion Peter Rasmussen and the new world no.1. Peter Gade. The back-ups were Jonassen and Stuer-Lauritsen. And our doubles were OK.

But both in 1998 and in 2000 we were kicked out in the semifinals.

So maybe this year we will come from behind to win the cup - that would be ironic!!

    Jan,

perhaps people perform their best when the expectations is low.

as has been analysed, China, Denmark, Indonesia and Malaysia has very similar chances at winning this year's TC. it will be an exciting tournament to watch!

In 1996, Denmark went to the final of the Thomas Cup but unfortunately got whipped by Indonesia. In 1998 and 2000, Denmark got knocked out in the s/f stage but only in the final singles match. It was the same player that lost on both occasions. Those two matches against Malaysia and Indonesia respectively were really exciting. Danish badminton is not that lost.
