    Thomas,
I've recently been able to see videos of you and Kamilla playing in the 2005 All England, and i was very impressed by your play. I was looking at your website and i wondered, what is stiksmash? is that a slice? Thanks,
    Gregory

    Thomas,

Your website looks good. I'm impressed that you made it yourself!

You have, however, made a mistake that many new web designers make: you have used images to show text.

You are using flash to display the images, which is even worse.

Using images to show text makes your site difficult to read. It is impossible for a blind user to read.

I don't want to discourage you -- you did a great job making your own website! But using images to show text is the worst mistake you can make on a website. I strongly suggest you change it, and use REAL text instead.

Note that no search engine (like Google) will be able to read your site at all. That means none of the content is indexed by Google.

I will copy this in a PM to you, because I think it's important for your website.

    Yours sincerely,
    Mike Hopley
    Semi-professional web designer.

A stik smash is probably what you would call a "half-smash", wrist smash or whatever.

    Hi everybody

Thanks alot for all the kind words about my website.

My website has now been updated with new pictures, sponsors and links, so check it out at www.laybourn.net

I will try to update my site more regually, with news on what goes on in my life etc. and offcource new pictures.

You are more that welcome to give me some feedback on what you think i miss on the site and offcource what you think is good. My goal is to make the best playher website in the world:)

    To Gollum:
About the text you mentioned, i can say that i do indeed use REAL text. I dont undestand that you can´t read the text, all the different computers i have seen my site on works fine. Maybe your resolution on your computer is so high that the text gets to small to read.

    Regards
    Thomas

On my screen, the "text" is so small that I can barely read it. But that's not what I was trying to explain.

Text and the appearance of text are not the same thing. Text is information, which can be read by anyone, including blind people and partially sighted people.

Images are not text, even if they look like text. Flash is not text, even if it presents an image of text.

    Let me illustrate:

This is real text. If the font is hard for me to read, or too small, then I can change it. Blind people can use software to read it aloud.

Note that search engines (Google) cannot read your "text" either, because search engines are blind!
