Hi everyone, right now I am having trouble choosing Ti 10 and MP 99. I am a mainly a doubles player and a little bit of single. For doubles, I am a offensive player. For singles, I am a defensive player. So which one should I buy?

I'd go with the MP99, it's a safer bet. I have both and the Ti10 is, relatively speaking, too heavy for defending in doubles while the MP99 does everything well. But there's no question, the Ti10 hits bombs.

I am double player, I play with Ti-10, it's more stiff, I love the way it built, the head is heavy, I just love it, it's excellent for smash.it provides great control.

I bought MP 99 from HK last year, it's too light for me, I have no control of the Head of the racket, overall it just doesn't feel right for me..
( MP 99 it's very popular rackets, but just not for me )

But some users told me, MP 99 feels funny when you play with it.Such as, you can't get powerful smashes or clears. Meanwhile, Ti 10 should be like other racquets, easier to handle in first play.

Both Ti-10 and MP-99 are good rackets with tons of users out there. If you have enough of strength, you should be able to use both of them fine.

The Ti-10 is a proven racket and one of Yonex's best. Enjoy it.

Power can a relative thing; When your friend said MP99 is not powerful, he/she must have compared it to another racket!!!!
I use both rackets & in my opinion yes MP99 may not be as powerful as Ti-10 but MP99 is pretty powerful in itself.
Advantages of Ti-10 over MP99 are Backhand clears, smashes.
Advantages of MP99 over Ti-10 are drops, net play.
This does not mean MP99 is not powerful enough or Ti-10 is ‘too’ powerful, it all depends on what type of player you are & how you adapt to your racket!!!
(Again, it is just my opinion)

Maybe this will help you better, a comparison of the two rackets based on my experience using BG-85 @ 22lbs.:

    Smash: Ti10
    Clears: Ti10
    Defense: MP99
    Net Play: MP99
    Touch Shots: MP99
    Sweet Spot: MP99

So, the Ti10 accels in the power department while the MP99 accels in everything else.

Simple. Get Ti-10 if you are a hard-core smasher. However, MP99 can be quite powerful if you have proper wrist movement - A good balanced racquet given that you have been trained and can use your wrist well.

My coach actually told me to get Ti-10 to enhance my smashes but I got MP99 instead as I felt that I like it.

from what i've heard with ppl having MP99's most of them say that it takes a while to get used to it, maybe a month or two (or more, not too sure  )

i have been using the Ti-10 now for about 2 months and i must say, it's a very good racquet for training :p , initially i wanted to try it out, and use it for training but now i like it so much it has become my main racquet lol i dunno how long on average it would take someone to get used to the Ti-10 but since it's extra stiff and head heavy it MIGHT even take longer to get used to than the MP99. not sure there...

main down point is my defense, but if i can train to get good defense with the Ti-10 then other racquets that are less head heavy e.g. MP99, it will be so much easier on defense.

so if you want to train your wrist and arm OR if you are an attacking player (or soon want to play that style) i recommend the Ti-10

if you want to be an attacking player, YET still maintain some finesse in your game then i recommend the MP99

both are superb racquets, just that i have only tried the MP 99 a few short times in rallying when warming up, so my opinion migt be biased

    it's no biggie...

Power comes from technique, although certain racquets do help a little bit in that department. When you're good, you can make do with any comparable racquets. I know a friend who's really partial to Ti-10 and he defends just fine with it. Over time, you can adapt any racquet to your style.

I know it's a 'fun' dillemma to decide between two racquets, but it's better for you to just wait for a little longer if you have no clue as to what you want and what style you have. We're all biased towards certain racquets so those racquets might fit us but may not fit you. Make up your own mind and get the one you feel more strongly with. If it's the wrong choice, then sell it on the forum and get your preference. People do it all the time.

To be honest with all of you... I must say, racquet is not the most important factor, it's the technique that you have. Racquet is to show your potential technique you have learn and tried to match the aspect of the racquet.

You exactly repeated what Cappy said... Now that you realize it, you won't go wrong with any of Ti-10 or Mp-99 just try them and chose the one you prefer.
