Yes on keep moisture on shuttlecock and No on rice cooker, feather on shuttlecock need to keep moisture just it on goose keep the uropygial oil or it preen However, the heat from hot rice cooker is might actually damage the shuttlecock cork white cover, white tread, feather and reduce the durability of feather.

Steaming shuttlecocks Hi Togey, Look like u are cooking the shuttle by steam lah??? Why not open the caps n put in the bathroom when u bathe with hot shower. I mean on a higher plane when yr shuttle would not get wet but will get the steam into yr tubes. Good luck. Lee
dont have a higher place to put them I think I'll just steam them for one second on both sides instead of 2 before closing the cap.
Alternatively, just dip them individually in water for a few seconds, shake off the excess and return to the tube

The best way is to arrange your shuttles on a dim sum pan and put it at the dim sum steamer for few secs. That is the best way since most of the shuttles are completely moisturised.
i happen to think it is ok. don't leave it there for too long. leave it till you see traces of steam coming out of the top of the tube. then close the lids top and bottom to trap the moisture. the best solution imho is still the bathroom method. i constantly keep 10 tubes of shuttles behind the bathroom door. and so far with the dry weather here, their durability is quite satisfactory. it is a long process though, if you are starting from dry shuttles, it may take a month to get them moist again. if you bought them from a responsible store (that keeps them in humidity controlled rooms) then it will keep them in good condition.
The thing is, I leave them behind the bathroom door and my mum tends to move them back to my room since it's 'messy'.
ahahah lol, i have 2 tubes of mav 350s for regular practice and stuff, as for tournies they provide shuttles, so screw steaming shuttles. though i do have a tube of AS 50s , they were expensive i dun wanna ruin them
Just wondering why you would get the tube of AS50s in the first place if you're not gonna use it. Feather shuttles, unlike the nylon Mavis, has a limited shelve life (maybe 1~2 years depending on local climate and conditions).
Well i bought it then i was like omg feather shuttles will die fast, *maybe i shouldn't use them* so then i have use them since then, lol i plan on using one this saturday
I may just be wrong here, as most respondents seem to come from colder climates, so it may actually make a big difference, but is it really worth all the trouble?! How long does its life span get extended?
