Recently I got asked about about how to prevent ankle injury.

The easiest thing to do is to get an ankle support. I won't get into the arguments of wether they actually work or not.

A very important point to prevent rolling over the ankle is footwork.

The first picture of Xie Xing Fang is very interesting. Notice the direction that she turns her foot.

2nd picture, Yang Wei is almost doing the same.

The subsequent pictures, it's not so obvious. I think it is still possible as the difference is these pictures are taken fractionally earlier in the movement than the first two (as judged by the apparent distance of shuttle to racquet head).

If the foot is turned inwards when planted on the floor, it is quite possible that the person may roll over the foot causing a bad sprain. Turning the foot outwards in relation to the forward movement of the player gives a lot of stability and easier recovery.
