can any mandarin speakers correct my parents lol

    my parents will discussing over the pronounciation of 'jia yow' (add gas)

    is it 'jia you' or jar you'? anyone got a microphone they can record to?

    um... how should I say it. act both sounds correct.
    jia you is the chinese phoenatic way of pronouncing it
    but if u r not a chinese speaker, then jar you is the way it sounds.
    to be precise, in chinese phoenatic, it is read as jia1 you2

    I'm a chinese speaker, just not a mandarin one. thanks anyways, but i don't know pinyin :(

    Do you guys know of any websites by which I can learn Mandarin from? I'm really interested (well actually just to understand badminton matches lol).

    jia with the - over the 'a', making a flat 'jiaaaa' and you, its a '/' inclining pronounciation over the 'u'..i cnat really explain it better...
