This may escape your attention, but do you know that Taufit is the first mens singles player to have won two top awards?-the Olympics and the World Championship. You cannot do better than that. There are no more peaks for him to conquer. At best he can only maintain his top dog status-there is nothing higher-but he could also be forced to come down more often because the hunger and challenge is no longer there. There is nothing more to prove.

Taufik COMPLETELY OWNED Lin Dan. I felt sorry for LD, but he was so frustrated and helpless. I didn't expect to lose the match in this way, not lobsided at least.

i think your wrong, like in every sport world rankings mean nothing. or times, what would you rather be an olympic champion or the no 1 world rank player, you become remembered for winning titles not by your ranking just ask peter gade.

    man-o-man

world number one for almost 2 years and lots of grand prix titles?
or top ten with the olympic gold and the world championship?

i'd say, it's great to have both lin dan and taufik active in our generation. :D

Well, he said in the Media Press interview that basically he's had and achieved all of his dream(of winning the Olympics and WC). The only one major prestige title left that he's still missing is the All-England, which he said he will focus on next(besides all of the upcoming IBF events)
Boy, one more hurdle for him to accomplish, will he be able to sustain and retain his hunger and focus for next year's All-England??...We shall see..

There is no comparison, mate. TH is the man to beat right now. He should be #1 again (he has been before). The current world ranking is making a mockery of IBF ranking system. No disrespect to LD, but IBF should put more weighting on big tournaments like Olympic and World Champs to make the ranking more realistic.

to really leave a mark in history... i think it'd be pretty cool if he also got the olympic and world championship title for mixed and doubles... then will be he god-like.... he's still pretty young, so it is possible.

If he is to achieve the status of greatness, there is a lot more work in front. One thing for sure, he has to consistently win many more times. All England is still not in his resume for now. One man for Taufik to look up to, ROGER FEDERER in tennis.

They already do that. Olympics and WC are the top ranking tournaments for getting points. Taufik's win at the Olympics gave him lots of points. Those don't count anymore.

    Badminton Training Machine Country Loses

Well I guess TH win over Lin dan proves that talent > pure training. I mean, I really like those crazy Chinese badminton players, but I cant help to feel sorry that their life is on badminton and a loss is almost like hurting their long life goals. But, TH played hell of a match and goes to show that badminton requires alot of talent, experience, and training. You have to be in your top shape to play.
