well....this independence day seems to be pretty quiet....overshadowed by the current political situation....less flags than the yrs before where u can see kids mounting flags on their bikes and ppl putting small flags on their cars or big flags across the bonnet...so far...very little ppl have done this this yr....

Actually this song and melody, the Malaysian national anthem, has a very long history, being French in origin. It then travelled from its birth place, the island of Mahe in the Seychelles where the song and melody was composed by Frenchman Pierre Jean de Beranger, to an Indonesian Opera group as well becoming the state anthem of Perak before Merdeka. It also became a lovely well known love song known as "Terang Bulan" (Bright Moon) in Malaysia.
During the Indonesian "Confrontation" with Malaysia when Malaysia came into being, there was a story that went around that Tungku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister, chose this anthem to get one back at Soekarno by using this famous Indonesian melody. The truth is that it did not originate from Indonesia but from a Frenhman.
