    Hi,

I have been having alot of problems securing a badminton grip due to the difficulty of applying the securing tape at the cone. I understand that you have to stretch it so that it can be secure. But its very tough and fifficult to do so.

Is there any softer tape that i can use? I have tried electrical tape, the softness is just right but it doesnt work as the tape tends to warp and move up the cone.

Any other reccomendations of what tape to use or any tips on how to wrap tape at the end?

Hi, personally i tink the tape dat is supplied with the grip is quite ok to secure the grip nicely. Dun have to make it so tight as how u wrapped the grip, but remb to overlap the tape at least 1 round the cone to properly secure it. As to how to wrap the tape at the end which is near the cone, cut the grip perpendicular (90 degrees) to the cone area when u wrapped till the cone so dat the grip will just end with a sharp edge like a right-angled triangle n den cont'd wrapping and paste the secure sticker over the grip end. :) Practise makes perfect....no worries.

Electrical tape works just fine for me. Just make sure to wrap it securely a few times around the cone, not just once.

You can also purchase "finishing tape" which is similar to electrical tape but it's half the width.

I use electrical insulation tape, and it works very well with a neat finish.

The supplied grip tapes also work, but they are not as neat.

I don't understand your difficulty with this. :(

personally, i dont use the tape that is supplied with the yonex grips i use. they suggest that you should start gripping using the sticky end but i flip it and i use the sticky end of the grip to secure my grip instead. i find that it works just fine but its a bit of a pain when you begin applying the grip. less advertisement for yonex on my racket :p

Electric tape works fine for me as well. Maybe you need to cut the tape longer and wrap around the cone a few more times to secure it. I typically wrap the tape around 5 times and it work fine for me.

I do agree with you that some tapes which come with certain brands of grips are difficult to wrap around the cone. I use 3M electrical tape but I do not pull the tape too tightly. To make sure the tape stays in position, I use a cigarette lighter to gently 'burn' the end of the tape. If I am in a rush, I just wrap the grip up to the shaft (covering the cone). Have fun :)

i use the tapes that comes with the grips and they work pretty well. i think the problem might be because you might be trying to apply the tape too close or exactly at the top. i think it might help if you applied the tape a few mm down from where the grip ends and maybe just stretch it a bit to keep it from going slanted. if cutting the grip and getting the right angle is a problem...then just cut the grip normally and just fold the bottom tip underneath the rest of the grip just enough so that it looks normal...hope this helps...:)
