I've been using BG85 for quite a long time, as I totally fell into love with it. Even though, it could only last me for 2-3 weeks, but with my own string machine, I still can afford it. Recently, I snap this string even faster, say, within 10 days or so. I think it's mainly because I use a lot of slice shots in my games.

Got some packs of BG80 about 2-3 weeks ago. I gave it a shot, and just wonder how much better the durability could be, with the additional 0.01mm. Quite surprising, after 2 weeks of heavy usage (a lot of training and tourny play), the string even almost did not show signs of fray. I don't think I changed my shots selection at all, as I am still working on slice.

Wondering anyone else have similar experience.

Despite the difference of only 0.01mm, personally I get more 'feeling' out of BG85 and found BG80 too stiff. I reckon the Danish team found BG80 very durable and made it their 'official' string?

Agree, so far, out of all the strings I have tried, I get the most "feeling" out of BG-85.

    I've tried:

    BG-65
    BG-65Ti
    BG-66
    BG-68Ti
    BG-70
    BG-80
    Ashaway Rally 22
    Ashaway MicroLegend

    Have and due to try:

    Ashaway MicroPower
    Hi-Qua B-696
    Trump Strings
    Fake BG-65 :p

I agree. BG80 does feel a bit too stiff once it's freshly strung, but the power was nice, if u prefer power games. ;)

as a test, i think u should gave bg66 a try, it should give a closer feel to bg85 than with bg80. Bg66 is also cheaper than bg85 too.

    BG65 has fake?
    are you serious?
i would have thought that strings is not worth it for the copy cats to do so?
is it true that there are fake BG65s?

Cooler, I agree with you comment on bg66's feeling is close to bg85. However, I feel bg66 break faster if I play smashing game. I thought LB want to have to know which on elast longer. Regarding bg66 is cheaper, I think LB does not care about the 25~50 cent different per pack...

    Have a nice week!

sometime durability issue is quite unique to each individual. Maybe the bg66 may last similarly to bg85 for LB. Worth a test.

There are fake strings out there. I saw fake BG65 and BG68Ti before, totally crap. The string looks fake, smell fake, and more like rubber band rather than string. Totally not usable. :(

I agree. Actually, I got my BG80 by accident, otherwise, I will still settle with BG85. However, if i get a chance to get my hand on BG66, I will definitely take a shot.

    fake BG65

unreal! i can see why they want to imitate YY rackets to make $, but strings? o please... how many meteres do u need to sell to make it worthwhile?? brainless copy cat people!!! ruin the market as well!!

    getting back to the strings
    i have never tried bg85.
    bg65, nice all around string
Ti65, very durable, no feel at all, hard to create spin, not recommended at all
bg70, low durability, not too happy with it.
bg80, very nice sound, good power. satisfied with it, currently using.
    bg85, not tried, don't know.

Durability wise, heres what I have found out...(BG85,BG80,BG66)

    BG85 breaks faster than BG66.
BG80 is the most durable of the three.

BG80 and BG85 use a vectran strip around the inner filaments. No other Yonex strings other than these two use vectran. It is unlikely that BG66 feels closer to BG85 than BG80 to BG85, because the special "soft" feel of the latter two is from the vectran which has the unique property of having extremely low creep and the best damping performance. Their extremely high damping properties make BG80 and BG85 feel soft, shockless, and vibrationless.

    Let's talk about BG88Ti....

How does it compare to BG85?

Nobody seems to sell it here in Manila (or in Bangkok for that matter).

I thought vectran makes the string surface rough which gives bg85 better control. IMHO, I think bg66 feels even softer because the thiness of the string. But I could be wrong. And I agree with cooler 100%, bg88ti also has vectran.

    - the vectran is imbedded inside the string
    - yes, i would say bg66 give a softer feel not only because it's thinner. Look at taneepak, he himself sells 29 lbs bg66 string job to kids and beginners.
