Hi all, this is the latest offering from Mizuno: Wave Smash S1 Is this model available in your country? Where can I find this model in Asia besides Japan? Really disappointed to find that the top model available in Singapore is only the Wave Gate. I suppose the local distributors find it not worthwhile to complete with Yonex in the market for high-end badminton shoes. Any of you chaps wearing this pair of cool shoes? Would appreciate your review. Thanks
We have this shoe available in the Philippines, its pretty expensive, I got at roughly 65 US dollars (converetd form the Philippine peso). Its a low to the ground shoe. Exclusively made to be played on Taraflex and Wooden courts. The sole is very flexible. The cushion is very responsive (meaning is absrobs the weight of the user even when jumping) The leather upper seems to be durable for now). The gum soles grip very easily. Its made for relatively wide feet. The EVA sole surpasses the gum sole. Meaning if you walk on a cement floor or street the EVA sole can get cut or scratched by the cement floor damaging. The "adidas torsion" like bar in the mid foot can get scratched by the sement floor. I would only advise you to wear this shoe only indoors, don't try to wear it while walking from your office or home to the courts. For strictly in-door its very comfortable and non-restrictive. The cushion in the heel soaks up all the high impact forces due to jumping, lunging and back peddling. Overall its a pretty good shoe.
wrong model? I understand that the Wave Smash is now available in Singapore, retailing at S$159 before discount of 15%-20% at World of Sports or Queensway.
I think wrong model. Btw, its almost the same, y spend extra money on the new type? 99.70 is before the discount. After 20% off it will be around 79.76
Btw many said its for volleyball, is it really for badminton? The cushion isn't better than yonex shoes... when i wear it
Don't worry about what other said its for volleyball; the following link indicated that it is for Badminton: http://catalog.mizuno.co.jp/catalog/product/product_s1.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441765767&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474395181589&seFlg=1&bmUID=1130060878449 There is even another Model called Wave Smash S2: http://catalog.mizuno.co.jp/catalog/product/product_s1.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441764153&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474395181589&seFlg=1&bmUID=1130060878449
i checked it out couple of days ago and the dealer of mizuno here in the philippines told me thats its out-of-stock 'cuz its already old, anyway my old shoe is the wave smash sr, i think they are marketing the s1 as the sr but they are different in appearance if you would look closely, so therefore im gonna buy the wave smash S2 (wave smash 2) and the volleyball shoes has a code that starts with 9KV and the ones for badminton start with 7KV
you can get it from shuttle-house http://shuttle-house.com/page_top_ENGLISH/MAIL_ORDER/Meker_Catalog/MIZUNO_06/MIDDLE/P037.html http://shuttle-house.com/new-cgi/page2_i.php?hid=7KM-500&mk=MI&lan=e
The Mizuno Wave Smash S1's cushioning is poor compared to Yonex's SHB-89. The Mizuno lower-end model, Wave Gate, has much better cushioning than the Wave Smash S1.
just got mine from toby's glorietta for 4,650.00 php. honestly....i feel more secure and comfy with my asics.
Suggest u changed the insole of the wave smash to a better quality one. It made a lot of difference in cushioning after I made the change.
