i have been playing badminton and recently had a severe low back pain. it only happenswhen i start to play badminton. the pain is almost unbareable and i have trouble walking. what should i do to help this. im trying to see a sport doctor soon but is there anything i should do to calm it down a little
Until you consult a doctor, just rest, take some anti-inflammatory medication and alternate between heat packs and cold packs.
Badminton puts a strain on your lower back, yes, but there are exercises you can do to prevent that. Look into strengthening your core muscles. For now, there're certain stretches you can do to alleviated the pain. Chiropractors can help. Good luck! -dave
Absolutely. Do not play anymore. I had a back injury and didn't let it properly heal and it took 5+ years for me to recover when it only should have taken 2 months. Definitely go see a back specialist and don't play Badminton. Good luck.
Get yourself treated checked out by a doctor but also think about trying to stop the cause of the problem. It might be worth getting someone who knows what their doing to have a look at your footwork & feet. Flat feet, poor footwork or poor knee/thigh muscles can alter the way you move & put extra strains on your lower back. Sometimes something as simpe as corrective/cushioning in-soles, lunging correctly, or some simple strengthening exercises can make such a huge difference.
thanks everyone for the help. i went to a specialist and found out i have sprained the muscles on my lower back which makes me have muscle spasms. he said i should take a 2 week break from badminton before i go playing again.
Badminton and back pain I play badminton regularly and have recently suffered lower back pain for the first time, though I don't think the pain has been caused by playing. What exercises are recommended in order to strengthen the back when I return to playing and how long should I leave it before playing again?
Same here, I've been experiencing it since earlier this year. I've visited physicians and did some suction cup thing but the pain still remains. I went to see my family doctor and she says that it's probably because my womb's tilted towards my back..... Hopefully I'll see a back specialist soon
Hi Molid, One of my trainee had the same back pain issue. Then I took her to my Ortho Dr. She recommended to get some pain treatment from http://www.irehab.com/ a month back. Now she tells the pain is almost gone. I thought this will cure you. I'll will update you with additional information about the treatment after asking my trainee as I don't have much info now. Hope this helps you. Thanks
you need to strengthen your back as well. as soon as you recover COMPLETELY, you should start gym training, dead lifts and bows. build these muscles as during badminton, you constantly stretch and often over stretch these muscles, rarely contracting, leading to weak muscles
There is a link between short hamstrings and lower ack pain all you need to do is go to a physiotherapist and get some excerises to do
can be more than just normal back injury. if it's gonna be prolasped disc, you won't be able to enjoy the sport just like me.
i just had the same thing few weeks ago, hurt when getting up from chair, bed, stairs, what have you. painkillers helped only a little bit, after few days, the pain gradually subsides, and i kinda enjoyed it... lol. if yours persists more than 5 days, go to the doctor dude.
i kinda had this problem when i run. that's because my back was out of form while i was running. keep your back straight when you play.
Back pain can be anything.Sciatic, Muscular, slip-disc etc. Better see a Dr for better advice after an exam.
