Anyone else with AT800-OFs having CSC problems? 1) The CSC/Cone gets loose and separates from the shaft/handle. This has happened to 2 of my AT800-OFs already and the handle on one is starting to split. It's no big deal, I just re-glued the CSC back to the shaft but I think Yonex needs better R&D on this. The CSC should not separate from the shaft/handle. 2) The graphics on the CSC peels off very easy if you use finish taping there. All of my AT-800s are missing the serial numbers on the cone because I taped there and once I remove or replace the grip, the serial number just comes cleanly off. Sucks. 3) Not CSC related; I noticed my newer AT-800s (2005 build date) have shorter grommets when compared to my older AT-800s (2004 build date). The shorter grommets suck at the corner because when I go to string, the grommet either wants to come out or doesn't fully stay inside. One did come out half way and messed up my string job. Anyway just wanted to rant. Other than that, the AT800-OF is one sweet racket.
Yep, the country code and the serial number come completely off, leaving a bare plastic cone with a shot-peen kind of surface. This has happened to all my AT-800s and one MP99 as well.
This is what a bare CSC looks like. I just use premium electrical tape to finish; it's not very sticky so the finish on the CSC should not come off.
Yes, my AT-700 CSC came loose and I had to glue it back. The paint also comes off very easily from finishing tape that I pull from the grip. Both my AT-800 OF and DE has had problems with the paint as well, but not the CSC coming loose. Paint sucks :crying:
what the?! .. how can a laser engraved serial # coem off? thats impossible!! the only way it can come off is if you sand it off or scratch it off...
The best thing to do is to get the racket replaced because that is covered under the warrenty. Only problem is, if you gotten it from another country, then you have to contact where you got it from to file a claim to Yonex of that country to authorize a replacement.
Nice!! Well, at least you could of still did it the legal way of getting a replacement which you are fully entitled too.
The laser engrave serials is only engraved on the paint job and not deep into the shaft or the cap materials. Therefore if your paint comes off either from the shaft or cap, the serials will come off too.
i have a at700 and i agree that the paint does chip off very easily. in fact, i do not have to even do anything special and it will just chip off by itself. my overgrip does not over the cone but the paint still comes off. btw, if the serials dissapper, does that mean your warranty is gone? because what if the first 4 digits of the serial dissapper, cant yonex just say it is a fake?
Yonex has its ways of identify weather the racket is real or not even if the serials comes off. Of coz with the serials , it makes their job easier to trace the batch.
the csc of my AT500 came off after a few weeks of play and was the racket promptly replaced by the store where i bought it from...the csc of the new AT500 is holding so far...
