So i switched to feathers around an year ago, and i was wondering which impact i should feel.
sometimes i feel that the bird is

    Solid and crisp

    or soft and light

which one should i be feeling if i was hitting the shuttle correctly?

ive been told it should feel solid and crisp but i dont always feel that way. maybe its right to always feel that way, maybe not. sometimes i get the soft and light feel as well. for me it all depends on the shot im making. maybe someone more experienced and skilled could provide some insight:p

Both are correct, depending on the shot you intend to play. If you want your net shots to drop nearer the net sometimes a soft deceptive shot is called for. For faster and power shots, they should be solid and crisp; if not then you are not hitting them right. This is very obvious with very high tensions.

I agree with Taneepak here, especially about the difference in feeling between tensions. For me, when my string tension is just right (not too high, not too low), the impact is much crisper.

I find that if the tension is TOO high (for me), then the impact becomes muffled again.

It should feel right. Its hard to explain in words. Its different for each tension but when you hit the sweet spot, you can feel it. Its different from all your other shots. They feel more whole or more solid. I'm sure you've felt this before too.

it partly depend on ur string tension, but mostly on the bird itself because birds some birds more heavy than other and some r more "expensive" than other. Like u said "solid and crisp", it's probably a heay bird, "light and soft" =light bird. If u hitting a crappy bird then don't expect any good feeling in it.

Hey guys.. was just actually curious - depending on what kinda grip you got, would it effect the feel? I'm assuming that if you used a cloth grip compared to regular supergrap, you'd feel less vibration. But I dunno.. its my assumption.. can someone elaborate?

No, it's not off topic. :D The question was what should Waffle feel when he hits the shuttle? And I said he should feel, "Grrrrrreeeeeaaat!" :p

OK, maybe I'm stretching it a bit but don't you feel "Grrrrrrreaaat!" when you hit the shuttle? :D :D :D
