Ideal book Hi Jerby, There is one book named: Basic Skills of Badminton by Han Jian and Ooi Lay Beng. Published by Sport Junction in Malaysia. This book is very useful and informative for those who want to advance in badminton. It shows u the basic footwork, grip, movements in techniques in badminton. i like this book as it gives me alots of information in badminton techniques and tactics and even warm-up exercises and agility practice. It is available in MPH store in West Malaysia. that soudn slike the book i like... but i don't have a Visa...so it would be nice if oen of these 4 correspond with what you are saying!
I think Han Jian's book is aimed more at the beginner You will probably get more out of Jake Downey's books see www.badmintonbooks.com they are old, but they are still very good Get Fit for Badminton (1978) (free download) Winning Badminton Singles (1982) Winning Badminton Doubles (1984) (free download) Excelling at Badminton (1993) For physical training, Bo Omosegaard's "Physical Training for Badminton" (1996) is excellent. Available from the IBF website. Edit: If you do a search in BF you should find some more opinions on these books
which book Hi, I would disagree that Han Jian's book is for beginner only. I like to highlight hat this book is for building foundation of all the badminton players. Han Jian himself was a world champion and his knowledge is valuable and his footwork is one of the best in the world.Without solid foundation in badminton skills, I think a player cant advance further. If u had watched the game between Han Jian and Liem Swee King in Singapore in 1975, u may realise Han Jian had one of the best defensive skills in the world. This book highlights his valuable knowledge necessary for a player to be successful in badminton. Yes, I've seen Han Jian play. I'm not trying to say the book is no good. It is a good book for the basic skills of grip, strokes and footwork. But it is only the basics. Jerby was looking for "a good read on training, techniques's, tactics, and menta toughness." There is very little on deception, training, tactics, and the mental side.
yes indeed i am. but does anybody even know any of those books? do you know somehtign about the contents of them?
