Hi guys, I just want to get some feedback on changing string tension. I have been playing with 22lb main and 24lb cross for over a year but yeasterday I received my new racquet yesterday but it is strung at 24 main and 26 cross. I played it for a couple of hours and I find there is not much difference between the racquet strung at 22lb/24lb both racquets are Cab 30ms and 3u G4 version. Can you guys share something about switching tension? Thanks!
Make sure it's strung from the same place and the tension is consistent because it may very well be less. If you can confirm the tension and you feel there is not much difference, then I would go with the lower tension because it puts less stress on the racket and string = both will last longer. Personally, I can feel a noticeable difference between 22/24 and 24/26. In fact, I feel that's almost the threshhold/crossroads (25/28) between medium and higher tension. 22/24 for me is just to bouncy. It's great for defending smashes but too "loose" for me, less control. 24/26 is marginal...25/28 or ideally 26/29...that's just good stuff. But that's just me.
Note: I couldn't differentiate well between higher and lower tensions prior to stringing my own rackets because I would get my racket strung by a few different people and one person's 29lbs. would be another person's 32lbs. and in reality 26lbs. Once I started stringing my own rackets and calibrating the string tension, I then started to be to differentiate between string tensions.
