Hi people, (I apologize if this thread was posted). Anyways, I was wondering why Ti-10 was discontinue by Yonex. Some comparison threads had "Ti-10" mention in it, since most of the people know that Ti-10 is still popular to the market. Why not reproduce them...?
Well Badminton outside of Asia isn't as big, and for Yonex, everywhere else, it is better to cut out old models and replace with new models, to cut back on spendings, such as additional machinery, materials, and such.
Why don't they discontinue the lower end models first? It'll be more reasonable to produce more Ti-10 instead of the lower end models, wouldn't it? And beside, IMO NS8k and 7k aint that good.. I even think Cab 20,21 and 30 are better *even though i am not a cab fan*
Well, it's easier for them to justify replacing higher end racket models. The sales margins are bigger, they have a certain base of big spender customers that will always buy the latest and greatest rackets, and that wouldn't be the case in lower end models.
There are consistently new high end models being released from Yonex, and while low end Yonex racquets are very popular for those starting out, If there were so many high end racquets to select, Yonex would have to pay a lot more for more machinery to make them, and not a lot of people outside of Asia would pay a lot for more and more expensive racquets. Plus the cost and detail needed to produce a racquet such as Ti-10 requires a lot more effort and time, while producing a low end could take less than half of that in terms of cost, quality, and time.
It is more optimal from a production cost view point to produce a 1,000 racquets order of a model, combining the total world requirements, in a single run. If a particular model is discontinued then it is simply that it's demand doesn't justify the cost of production.
Ti10 fever *a little off topic* Since recently joining this forum, I have been astonished at the level of racket praise directed at the Ti10. Very surprising to me as its such an old model...so old that my local racket shop wasn't even familiar with the name!! So I have been asking around my team mates and friends to try one out. But to no avail - only NSs, ATs and MPs out there now. With no other available course of action left open, I've decided to bite the bullet and buy one before its too late! Question for you Ti10 enthusiasts - would you go for the 'long' or the 'normal' length? Aaron
There are several top pros who use the Ti-10, Kim Dong Moon comes to mind immediately, sure there are a few others. Yes, it is still a great racket. It was very popular with county team players when it first came out.
Ti-10 isn't that old, its just as old as MP-100. Ti-10 Regular was released in 2001, and Ti-10 Long in 2002, so 3 years difference to me is very little, and I still consider it a current Yonex racquet. And I'd go Ti-10 Long, just because it is longer, and you can reach the shuttle faster and easier, even if by a bit. I'd go for regular if I was a racquet collector though, as Ti-10R was only out for a year before Ti-10L took over the market and replaced Ti-10R
