For anyone living in Melbourne who missed the ticket ballots, the single ticket sales are on now!!!
You shouldn't miss the chance to see some of the world's best players come here to us. It'll be a once in a lifetime experiance.
Given that badminton isn't quite a popular sport here, the tickets are selling off quite cheaply. They only sold half the expected quota.
QF A-level tickets are only $15
    SF A-level $35
    Bronze medal $35

Here's the seating plan and ticket page if anybody's interested

    Morgan makes Commonwealth squad

    Q&A: Kelly Morgan

Kelly Morgan has been named in Wales' badminton team for March's Commonwealth Games - just four months after becoming a mother for the first time.

The 1998 champion and Welsh number one has only just returned to full training, but she will compete in the singles and mixed doubles at Melbourne.

Her partner will be Richard Vaughan, who will also play in the singles.

Martyn Lewis, Matthew Hughes, Jonathan Morgan and James Phillips complete the six-strong team.

Lewis, 23, will play in the singles as well as partnering Hughes, 27, in the doubles. They are Britain's top men's doubles pair.

Morgan, 26, and Phillips, 21, will also be looking for a good run in the men's doubles.

Said team manager Clyd Davies: "We have selected the strongest possible team for the Games ¿ one that will pose a real threat to the rest of the field when they take to courts in Melbourne.

"These athletes have already proved their potential on the world stage.

"In Kelly we have a previous Commonwealth champion; in Richard we have a Commonwealth bronze medallist; and in Matthew and Martyn we have a doubles duo that has developed the experience to be able to beat the best on their day."

Lee Chong Wei for sure. His closest challengers outside of Malaysia should be Ng Wei of Hong Kong and Ronald Susilo of Singapore (if he's up for it). I think Hafiz will take the second national spot. In direct contention is Wong CH.

Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat. Besides Malaysians, closest challengers are Hong Kong's Njoto/Liu and the English. Hopefully, Choong/Lee can take part. If they do, they will be favourites in my view.

WS has to be Wong Mew Choo because the second player is far behind her. With challengers like Wang Chen (HK), Hallam (Eng), Hughes (Sco), Li Li and Xing (Sin), I think she has a fighting chance but not too bright. She will be a great asset in the team event.

WD: Chin/Wong definitely. Emms/Kellogg and Jiang/Li are their greatest challengers. They have an even chance. In fact, I think the SEA Games is tougher (Saralee/Sathinee, Indons, Jiang/Li).

XD: Has to be Koo/Wong. With the English (esp. Robertson/Emms) around, their greatest contribution will in the team events.

Can Hongkong still play in the Commonwealth Games now that it is no longer a British colony and belongs to China?

Well, if you become an independent nation (like Malaysia and Singapore), then no. But if you become part of China, then I'm not so sure. I just checked the Commonwealth website, and I don't see Hong Kong listed here.

Independant nations like Malaysia and Singapore can but as to Hong Kong the anser should be no .....

Listing from website indicates Asian Commonwealth counties as
    Bangladesh,
    Brunei,
    India,
    Malaysia
    Maldavies,
    Pakisatn,
    Singapore, and
    Sri Lanka

Last results listed is 1994, Victoria, Canada. That was before 1997 handover to China - so the answer is no.
