Stencils can never be permanent cause strings break. It's your racquet, your strings, you can do whatever you want with it. Make your own stencil and make it whatever your heart's desire.

If you don't use official stencil ink, your racket will explode.

You didn't get it. He was just kidding.

BTW, any kind of permanet marker should work.

using permanent marker isn't really smart...i tried it once, and the ink got all over the bird cork, and my string broke on 2nd day of use. i highly recommend using only the offical stencil ink

For myself, I never bother to put the logos on my rackets. They did not pay me to promote their brands.

BTW, are you sure the marker is the killer? I have two samples sitting in my bag and they were obviously stenciled by those marker. So far, the strings are still there on the frames.

Whether you use ink or marker, it'll rub off on the cork.

As for markers damaging strings, it's entirely possible that some markers and paints do "eat" into the outer coating of the string. But, I don't know which ones are safe, which aren't. USRSA recommend Pilot Super Colour Marker as a substitute for stencil inks. I use them (i.e., the Pilot markers) regularly with no adverse affects that I notice on various strings.

i think he meant if he could use permanent marker/ink;)

its true that the racquet and strings are yours, but he was asking what kinds of inks are alright to use, and won't damage the strings. I don't quite think he was asking everyone's permission to stencil his strings.

i dont stencil my strings, i like them only one colour and when the ink drops off, it looks nasty:D

and back to the topic, i would use the official stuff. some chemicals in the permanent markers may eat into the string structure.

Is it possible to use paint? For example if you have black strings, you cannot use marker because you will not be able to see it, but can you use white paint instead?

i believe a lot of markers(if not all) and spray-paints have a substance (aceton iirc) that desolves plastics....not good for strings

think those markers made specially for marking cd-roms should be very safe. Since cds are also plastic

Use stencil ink or approved racket paint/ink to be safe but I'm sure any non-toxic/non-abrasive marker will do.

I don't paint logos on my racket because I like a clean string bed and don't like getting marks on the shuttle.
