I did not try that many yonex models yet, but I will say, SHB99 definitely offers more cushion and protection. However, SHB98 is surely lightening fast.
the 89s and 98s have the same oem insole, right? the power cushion FG? i didnt' like it. i removed it right away and used superfeet instead.
I've tried most Yonex models.. so far overall i think Shb99 is good. Cushioning does last longer than the other models.
I've got SHB89MG and am not very pleased with the insoles. I've had them about two or three weeks, and the insole by the ball of my dominant foot is already squashed and useless! I need new ones. The shoes are ok, but not my favourite.
I believe that the better performance of SHB99 on the cushion came from the better insoles (Yonex Power Cushion Insole MC), which are much better than all the insoles in other shoes (SHB98/89/ etc) due to some extra supports. Somehow I wonder if I could buy just a pair of that insoles but so far there is no luck in Northern America. -SC
Though the newer Yonex insoles are better. I don't think they can even come close to aftermarket insoles such as SuperFeet. Even Mr. Scholl's insoles seem to be better, definitely thicker and more cushioning. Sean, I have a couple of extra Yonex SHB-99 insoles if you want them.
I was about to purchase the Super Feet Greens when I notice the Yousole Black . So, have you tried the Yousole Black?
Thanks for the offer. But somehow the insoles from size 13/13 shoes might be too big for my size 8 pair. You can see that those are not "cut to fit" style like Superfeet, Dr. Scholl's, etc. Anyway, we can chat about that tomorrow. Superfeet or yoursoles are definitely better replacement; however, two pairs of those could buy me another pair of shoes. Since I am relatively light, the cushion I need is less. Another good thing about the thinner insoles is that I can feel the floor better and therefore know my footwork is sharp or sloppy on the day that I play. I wore some Adidas indoor shoes to play before and found them buffer too much. It was hard to start (to move) and learn my condition of footwork; but those were still great shoes for work-out or other indoor activities. -SC
I've never tried the YourSole. The SuperFeet Green are nearly ideal, I can't really imagine something that much superior. I'm good with the SuperFeet for now, unless someone who has tried both say the YourSole is significantly better.
Tomorrow and today is the Air Canada Tournament so you won't be able to play at SGVBC. Regarding the insole, the SuperFeet insole isn't just about cushioning, it's about promoting/properly aligning your feet so you don't strike the ground incorrectly. This in term helps straighten the spine. So they say. I will say with the Super Feet, I definitely feel better. Whether it's straightining my spine I don't know but I do feel I stand straighter, "Wo tsang de bi jao ting" so to speak. Finally, I haven't twisted nor turned my ankle at all since I started wearing the SuperFeet so I'm confident I am striking the ground properly.
and its not just that, but the superfeet, aligns the bones in your feet, allowing you to use your natural cushioning provided in the mechanics of your feet.
I alternate between both and agree with this description. Hope to get a spare SHB99 in the new colour. The SHB99 insole is also better than that of the SHB98. Went to the website are saw superfeet insoles are US$35. Yikes. I got my SHB99 for US$53... But given the potential injury-reduction benefits, I'm interested... can someone help me with these questions: -how long do these insoles last? (say, relative to how long the shoes they're in last?) thanks
