The previous went according to my predictions, so, here's the quarter-final lineup, again with predicted winners in bold:

    Pi Hongyan vs Kanako Yonekura
Cai Jiani vs Mia Audina Tjiptawan
    Kaori Mori vs Xu Huaiwen
Wong Mew Choo vs Yao Jie

come on Mew Choo please rise to the occasion but i reckon Xu Huaiwen is in good form now after winning the dutch open recently.

Ever notice Mew Choo never wins her matches easily irrespectice of the level of her opponents. In a tournament when she has to play 2 matches in one day, it really works against her in the 2nd match. Against Yao Jie, it might be another case of close but no cigar for Mew Choo. Let's see how tough Li Mao has made her.

Probably because she doesn't have any specific weapon in her game, save perhaps her net play, and of course her outstanding stamina and defence (better than most M'sian men's singles). The last time she played Yao Jie, she lost but Yao Jie was tortured on court.

Do you know if Li Mao is working on making her more offensive or developing a more aggressive approach? Yes, tactically, all she does is seem to outlast her opponent.

I'm sure he is doing so. But playing styles are hard to change, you can't actually make her become the female version of her boyfriend LCW.

Perhaps her boyfriend can! :D :p

Anyway if she has the ambition to go further she has to realise she needs to be more than a one trick pony. I don't think Li Mao would have taken her on if he didn't think she had the potential to be something special.

Yao Jie is big and tall but moves quite slowly. If Mew Choo can use deceptive shots and catch Yao Jie, she can catch Yao Jie quite easily.

I've seen WMC played in the indonesian open and i have to say she is definitely more offensive then before and her defence and stamina is also very good. I think i last saw yao jie and WMC played in the sudirman, i think so and at that time WMC gave yaojie quite some problems by retreiving almost everything she gave her but the WMC now has definitely improved by leaps and bounds. Yaojie has good skills but she is slow and her stamina is not good. Hopefully WMC can spring a upset here.

Anyway, i thought everyone know she and LCW is a pair, the malaysian papers had already mentioned it many times.

Cai makes her move, now at 4-4.

By the way, is she playing for China? I thought she was based in Denmark.
