Hey, i was wondering what causes cramps and how to avoid them. thx and sorry if this was posted before
lacks of water and electrolite in you muscle such as potassium, natrium, etc etc, things like that. eat lots of banana/apple to reduce this and drink lots of water. add a bit of salt to avoid blood salination if u drink large am0ount of water (there is a specific name for this and a bunch of theories that go behind it, but I forgot). I find pocari sweat is the best thrist quencher. gatorade, powerade and such just has too much sugar in it, and other energy drink is just guarana and caffein. or make your own sport drink
arent cramps also an effect of overworking your muscles? lol i always have 3 dozen bannanas in the house =P
my dad used to buy that much bananas n keep em in our house but no one would eat em so we stoped buyin them
OT: try eating avocadoes with milk and sugar to taste...yummy..eat it cold..with crushed ice preferably.. i suffered cramps from thighs down to the toes..i wasn't able to finish the finals match of our mixed doubles competition held in a local court..it was after 5 long matches with other pairs going for the slot in the finals..
You should try - bananas with strawberry yogart - or avacados with plain yogart and a drizzle of maple syrup yummm Cheers!
What is it? & is it simple to make? I had a coffee drink one time made with avacado, ice, sweetened condensed milk (I think), it was gooooood! Cheers!
s4madman: u should try this if u can. it is something called "Es Cendol"; cendol ice? ingredients: avocado, condensed milk, shaved ice, sugar syrup, a bunch of other things that I don't know the english name (kolang-kaling, cincau/camcauh, cendol) sometime fermented cassava and/or black bean is added (tape and/or tape uli), jackfruit pieces, etc. missed my home country....
Muscle cramps are painful involuntary muscle contractions common to the sports scene. A cramp may be clonic, with alternating contraction and relaxation, or tonic with continued contraction over a period of time. Cramps are brought on by a biochemical imbalance, sometimes associated with fatigue. There are also heat cramps, which are painful, involuntary muscle spasms caused by excessive loss of water and electrolyte, particularly sodium, during and after intense exercise in heat. Surprisingly as it may sound, the condition occurs very frequently in well-conditioned players, due to overexertion in hot weather with rehydration from only water. Now you know why they sell sports drinks, yes with sodium. Cramps commonly occur in the calf and abdominal muscles but may involve the upper extremity muscles. Risk factors also include lack of acclimatization, use of diuretics, and sodium depletion in the normal diet.
Yes, I've had Ice Cendol many times, it's excellent. I love all Indo drinks and food, they are so good!
