besides, i tend to look at the whole picture rather than focus at specific areas only.

i believe sabatini was a lot more successful than her, less pretty though!

Ai got into the Japanese national squad when just 11 years old

When just 14, she finished 5th in the Paris 2003 World Championships

Although just 19, this is her second Olympics

At Athens 2004, she reached the Round of 16.
Now 13th in the world, she is hot in the table-tennis competition.

(By the way, she is also featured in two PlayStation 2 table-tennis games.)

Given these accomplishments, how could Japan possibly consider Reiko Shiota over Ai Fukuhara to be their Olympic flag-bearer?

By the way, Haruna Fukuoka is the player who handed Singapore's Li Jiawei (one of the top ten table-tennis players in the world) a shock defeat in the preliminary round of the Singapore Table-Tennis Open just two months ago.
