I know ppl restring when their string snaps, but what other times should you restring and why?

If a racket lays dormant for over 2 months, I believe the string is no longer "fresh". It loses it's rebound properties, the string will probably stretch and not be in your tension range. So best to restring. However, if for beginners or casual players, I don't think it makes a difference.

It's all up to the person using the racket.

As a stringer, I'd say you should get *all* your racquets restrung every week. Because the stringer wants to buy new toys to play with. :p :D

It's all a matter of preference, IMHO. Some people like to play with fresh strings as much as they can, some play 'till they break. If it bothers you that the string's frayed and seemingly about to break, then get it restrung. You want to be confident in your equipment and not have them add to things you think or worry about when you play.
