So I finally received my stringing machine today It's a 6-point drop-weight model It has 2 fixed clamps, but one of them is broke (as in it doesn't hold) What should I do now? Buy new fixed clamps? (if so, wich ones?) Or buy a couple flyling clamps (wich?) Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cause want to start stringing ASAP thanks Jan
1. Definitely ask for exchange 1st, if under warranty. 2. Consider buy 2 good flying clamps, as it will be a big help in ur string job.
Call the place you buy it from to see if they are willing to pay for return s/h. If you paid with credit card. Call credit card company to see if cc company will pick up the return s/h cost because it is a defect. I know most of VISA and Master card gold card or higher will help you to recoup the s/h cost. Good luck.
Well, the machine isn't new, I bought from someone who used it for tennis only. He's a real nice guy, it's not his fault is broken. A local dealer around here has 2 models of flying clamps: Gosen & Winex. Are these any good? or should I consider buying them online?
Nice guy or not, unless he specifically told you the clamp was broken and you agreed to terms, it's his fault.
True, but don't forget the insurance is (optional). If buyer want to save cost, he may not pay for the insurance.... I hope Jan_Be had the insurance.
Alright guys, I didn't make this topic to find out who's fault it is I just wanted to now what I should do now, buy a ne wfixed clamp, or go straight to flying clamps?
Is your fixed clamp a fixed swivel clamp or a fixed one? Do you have an operating manual to refer to? I am sure you can get your faulty clamp repaired. It would be better than buying flying clamps.
Hi, Could you give us the make and model of your string machine? We can help you better if we know what you have. You might beale to get by with just 1 flying clamp. Good luck.
The Gosen flying clamp. It's blue and it's a spring clamp right? (meaning: it's like a clip, you press the ends together to open and release to close, no levers or anything) If it's that one, it should be very good, I've never seen a Winex before. If you're not insisted on buying it locally. I would suggest you contact ALPHA. They have very good flying clamps for 20 dollars. Also they have the BEST starting clamp which is almost a must.
