PETALING JAYA: The national badminton team have resorted to getting Indonesian club players as sparring partners to improve the quality of training.

Indonesians Ruben Gordon and Aji Basuki, who are from the Djarum badminton club, have been employed as full-time sparring partners for the men's doubles team.

National head coach Yap Kim Hock said they are planning to get two more Indonesians as sparring partners soon.

The Indonesians are replacing the local sparring partners who have left the national squad, which is based at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara.

From the six employed earlier in the year, four have left. They are Tan Zhao Rong, Liew Gavin, Yeoh Kay Lun and Chan Huan Chun.

Heard that another local sparring partner might be leaving soon as well...hope that these new indonesian sparring partners could do a good job for the team...especially the forth coming SEA Games as well as next year's Thomas Cup...
